Raiders | Raiders might lose Jordan

Thu, 1 Mar 2007 00:24:55 -0800

Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reporting for the Sporting News, reports it's still possible the Oakland Raiders won't pay starting RB LaMont Jordan the roster bonus he is due in the coming weeks.

This isn't the first we've heard of this, but I'm guessing the Raiders restructure with him. If not, there could be another starting RB available on the market.

They going to cut/trade people at every skill position? Too bad they don't have the 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 picks. They'll need AP, Johnson, and Russell.

Might make sense to cut ties now. Due a big bonus this month, and his health, fitness, and instincts are all questions in my mind.

As a Jordan owner in a dynasty league, I'd welcome a change of scenery and playing behind a different o-line for him. I don't think he'll get any sort of huge payday if he's released but I think he'll get enough money that it'll mean he's not a backup.

BAL seems like a nice location for him. He has the same style as Lewis, has less wear and tear, more talent (IMO at this point in their careers) and is from MD.

ETA: Going back to the NYJ would also be interesting.

Anyone else think San Diego might sign him to reunite him with Norv and enable them to trade Michael Turner?

As a Jordan dynasty owner, I'm not sure if I'd want this or not.
thats what I was just trying to figure out, I was leaning towards the not.
I don't own Jordan, but wouldn't a Jordan ownerwant him on a real NFL team rather than the semi-pro Raidiz ?
Starting on another team, sure (except maybe the Browns). But he may not be talented enough to win the starting job on 25+ of the 32 NFL teams.

As a Jordan owner, I think I would like this, if it weren't for the injury. If he is cut, there is no way a team brings him in as the starter, just to compete with someone else.

I would say Jordan owners shouldn't be wishing for his release for many of the stated reasons. If he's cut, he'll likely not be given the hands-down starting gig.Best hope is that he restructures with Oakland, they don't bring in valid competition, and a new coaching regime get improve the OL and play calling. Tall order, but better than looking for work...

As an owner I would like for him to go back to the Jets. Perhaps the broncos with his abiltiy in the passing game.

Man, it's really a buyers market for running backs this year. Not high end, but it seems like there are plenty of options for serviceable backs without needing to break the bank.
