Lamont Jordan...yikes! (1 Viewer)

I have Jordan in two leagues. I think I have to sit him until I see something. Anyone else have him? The worrisome thing is that they didn't throw him the ball once. He had 70 catchs last year. I'm in a PPR league and that kills me if they aren't going to throw him the ball.

When your offense is a vertical passing game and the QB must take 5-7 step drops and your o-line can't pick up stunts and blitzes NO ONE is going to catch a lot of passes. The Raider's offense is VERY offensive.

I luckily have Duece, Portis, T Bell and we start two so until he faces an easy D (not this week in baltimore), he will ride my pine.

I have Edge, Jordan, T. Henry, C. Brown, Droughns, and M. Turner.

Who am I starting next week with Edge? That's right, M. Turner...

You've got to believe that somebody in that organization is competent and looking at the game film will show how often Jordan was open for dump-offs, and they will try to use that to slow down the pass rush a bit (at least you have to hope if you're a LJ owner)... just wait and see what they do vs. the ravens and if it looks like they've "learned" from their mistakes then I wouldn't worry about him too much after the bye, he'll get his touches and be a solid RB2

You have a good point. But against a Ravens defense that shutdown the Bucs and Caddy, I'm not expecting much to change. The difference between the SD defense and the Ravens defense is that Ray Lewis has already been on trial for murder...it just may happen again.

I'm not saying play him against the ravens, I'm saying to look to see if they are adjusting... if they are it's a good sign, and he should be okay. If not, get him a cozy spot on the bench...

:lmao: Are you French? Put down the white flag, bro.

This was my observation from the Raiders in the preseason:

Here is something I noticed I don't think the raiders offense looks bad because it's pre-season Ithink they are in trouble. If you notice or you can re watch the game pay attention to the QB drops meaning 3 step or 5 step or 7 step drop, Notice that no matter who the QB was for Minnesota when they got to there last step they either threw the ball or took off. When the raiders have the ball the first thing tht jumped out to me was every pass was a 7 step drop that may have worked in the 70's but 7 step drops with today's athletes are almost non-existent but even with those 7 step drops when the qb got back there they still were not ready to release the ball!! This was every Raider QB!! Not to mention on Defense the first team played a lot of 8 man fronts that tells me that the defensive coaches have figured out they are going to have a hard time stopping the run. I expect if they play this way in the regular season they are going to be killed by the big play especially with teams that have TE's that can control the middle of the field ie..Gonzales, and Gates

Lamont Jordan was open quite a bit because he had missed his blocking assignments. Brooks had zero time to look at his secondary receivers or any outlets because Merriman was running around, over and through Jordan.

True...Jordan got beat quite a few times last night when trying to block

:goodposting: If a seven step drop is going to work, the QB has to be assessing the defense as he is dropping back. In Oakland they are dropping back and then assesssing the defense and the WRs. By that time it is too late.

I hate to be THAT GUY, but I warned all of you about this after the first preseason game and got BLASTED by this forum.

For all of you that say preseason means nothing, think again. I knew from the day Art was hired and proclaimed that they would "be strong," that they would "be power," and that they would "strike from anywhere on the field," that he was going back to his old offense.

When he rehired Tom Walsh as offensive coordinater it reaffirmed my fears. This freakin bum has been out of football for 12 years and got Shell fired in the first place with his antiquated offense. That offense was out of place in the 1990s and is a complete joke now.

In preseason, the final confirmation came. The team ran nothing but 5-7 step drops and the RBs primarily stayed in to block, making it very clear that Jordan wasn't going to come close to 70 catches.

This board usually is very knowledgeable, but on occassion quite blind as well. Face it ladies and gents, this game today is more about coaching and schemes than players. Look at the Patsies and Donks. The day Art Shell's 1967 offense replaced Norv Turdner's inept, but modern scheme, I knew to downgrade Jordan.

Sorry the rest of you failed to see this and ignored my warnings. Even I didn't think it would be anywhere near this bad. I'm just glad no Raiders fell in my drafts to the point where even I would've been tempted to take them as "values."

Let's see how Art responds inter-games, since it's obvious after watching the guy coach for years now, that he is completely unable to adjust intra-game.
