Lance Moore or David Patten (1 Viewer)

I'm sure this will help people looking to get one of these guys on the waiver wire this week (or ones that have already chose one over the other on the waiver wire) david patten had the bigger week last week, lance moore is still in the starting lineup.

What says you?

Who's the better pickup for this week and the rest of the season, Lance Moore or David Patten?

I personally don't trust Patten and am looking to pick up Lance Moore

In my opinion, Patten is the better fantasy option. Moore is multi-purpose and will continue with returning punts and such. Patten is very quick and has a similar role to Henderson, but Patten catches the ball more consistently than Henderson. Patten is the opposite of Colston, small and quick. I think that he will have several good games from here on out.

Moore will be important to the Saints overall success, but not have as big a featured role in the passing game.

my two cents

Im not sure i like any of them. I would have thought Copper was better than both. Patten has skills but tends to vanish for weeks at a time. Dynasty i like Moore. For redraft i would look elsewhere.

I was really on the Moore bandwagon until the last game. Yes he started and he did score but his involvement in the passing game took a hit. Even though he started, Patten was much more involved and he was extremely productive. Moore got a few targets here and there and caught them but didn't do much with them. The positive for Moore is that Brees really likes him and wants him to be involved in the passing game so that will help. But with Henderson playing his way out of a job and Colston struggling maybe Patten's experience will be a deciding factor.

I'm torn between these two guys. I don't see much separation but my gut says Patten may have a slight edge based on his experience.

I read Brees really trusts moore the most of all the recievers on the team right now...that has to matter.
Link??? I didnt read anything anywhere but I did watch the last Saints game (you know, the one where Brees actually played like an NFL quarterback) and he looked for Patten the entire second half. Colston seemed to be his 2nd option. I paid close attention to this since I was playing against Colston and was only up 3 points so every Brees pass could have decided the game -- Patten definitely got most of the looks. Now I'm not saying that has to continue, but if it does, and the Saints Offense is 25% of what it was last year then Patten will be an excellent WR3 or even a decent WR2 from here on out.

Targets from the Seattle game:

Patten 10

Moore 4 (although Moore scored)

This came out before the Seattle game:

"Saints Will Use Committee At No. 2 WR

Mike Tripplett, New Orleans Times-Picayune -

New Orleans Saints HC Sean Payton didn't announce any wholesale changes to the roster today.... though he said it will be tweaked. On of those tweaks will be demoting WR Devery Henderson from full-time no. 2 WR to a rotation. This rotation will give an opportunity to backups Lance Moore, David Patten and Terrance Copper."

It looks fairly even to me now, but my preference for dynasty would be Moore.

Oh, and if you are going to make a move, do it NOW! Moore may be a hot pick up in the coming couple weeks due to match-ups.

colston's TD was also originally called for lance moore, the play was wiped out on false start/illegal procedure. if the play wasn't wiped out lance likely has a 2nd TD-then there is no discussion for lance vs. patten.

I had the choice and went Moore in a redraft. Essentially, Patten has had 11 years to be a viable fantasy receiver and hasn't really pulled it off. Moore got a lot of press in the pre-season and I took my chances with him. He'll ride the bench until I see how it works out.

WEEK 7 OUTLOOKWhile everyone and their brother is jumping all over David Patten after his performance last week, we were more impressed with Lance Moore. He may have only caught three balls, but it seemed that Drew Brees always looked his way first, only to find him receiving more attention from the defense. If the Falcons buy into the Patten hype, too, we think Moore will find himself the target of many more of Brees' offerings.NBC's John Madden said that Drew Brees requested Moore join the starting lineup as he felt most comfortable with his catching abilityAl Michaels & Madden were saying last night how Drew told them that Moore is his favorite receiver.

Moore will be a poor man's Wes Welker. Patten will not see that many targets every single week.

I really like Moore as a bench guy with really nice upside in PPR leagues.

Moore. Brees wanted him in the starting line-up. He catches almost everything that he can get his hands on. Patten was the beneficiary last week because Brees has a tendency to pass to the "hot" receiver. He did it with Henderson last year for a few games. Same with Copper. Patten has gotten a taste now too. I'm not a fan that thinks the #2 or #3 WR in the saints offense actually counts for much. However, Brees asked for Moore and that has to mean something.

 Thanks for the insight. I must have missed Micheals and Madded saying how Brees has a hard on for Moore.

Gotta be Lance Moore. He's the only one between the two who has any remote chance of upside. Everybody knows who and what Patten is. A journeyman at the end of his career.

Has this changed? I've been big on Moore and figured he'd make the starting lineup from game 1, but the way it's played out these last few weeks, I wonder if Patten is really the guy to own. Thoughts?

Patten is the de facto #2, and the guy who has shown the ability to sneak behind the D. he's the one you want.

Dropped Moore for Patten. It's a crowded WR corp and Patten is getting the attention after Colston.
