Mark Curnutte put a quiet little blurb about Ed Hartwell in his story re: Thurman's denied re-instatement application this morning.
This isn't exactly groundbreaking news, but many team observers (including Hartwell) felt that the Bengals were bringing Hartwell in to play WLB on rushing downs. If that doesn't happen, Landon Johnson is again in line for every down duty and another potential top 30 finish.Hartwell, a former Ravens and Falcons starter, signed as a free agent in May. His two seasons in Atlanta were hampered by knee and Achilles tendon injuries, which limited him to 13 games with 11 starts. There are whispers inside the Bengals' organization that Hartwell might not hold up physically and is not guaranteed a roster spot come September.
