LaRon Landry (1 Viewer)

Certainly not, I guess what I'm looking for is some insight from someone who watched the game. What was Landry's execution like?

As I said in the McIntosh thread, Rocky and Fletcher were all over the place. I think this limited his tackle numbers. I was a little surprised they didn't blitz with LaRon a little more. They were pretty aggresive with that (with success too) in the preseason. Perhaps they weren't aggressive b/c the corner play from Washington was disappointing to me. When Smoot was on Chambers, they threw at him as if nobody was covering him (chambers). I think modest tackle numbers could be expected for much of the year. Long gone are the days of Warrick Holdman and Lemar Marshall (who isn't a MLB). Baker and McIntosh should hoard the bulk of the tackles in DC.

I'm sure the other Skins homers like Redman could weigh in with some pretty good insight.

There wasn't much offense for him to tackle
:) The defensive game plan clearly was focused upon making run-stopping a priority. The front seven did such a good job of that that Landry didn't have much to do. He got a nice pop on a WR on a pass play over the middle though, to remind everyone he was there. :)

The Eagles ran 30 offensive plays through the first half of week 2 and Landry has registered 0 tackles, 0 assists. More of a concern to me may be the fact that he has rarely even been around the ball.

First series of the 2nd half the Redskins sent him via blitz on 3rd down to force a quick throw. I know the Eagles are not completing many passes but when they do I just do not see him near the receiver and he doesn't seem to be in the box very often.

Big second half for Landry. The Skins seemed to be a lot more aggressive with Landry throughout the second half and he was a huge factor. LaRon capped off the big half by breaking up the final pass on 4th down from McNabb to Curtis. :lmao:

Final numbers of .5 sack, 6 tackles & 1 assist. Good game from a d-back. He also had some nice passes defensed and a near pick on a long pass from McNabb. I think he's a stud and will continue to be a factor in both real and fantasy football this season (and years to come since he's on my dynasty squad :headbang: )

I think the 'Skins defense got more aggressive as the night wore on and they saw how ineffective McNabb was. Landry was being held back in coverage in the 1st half, but the Eagles weren't completing passes for him to get tackles. In the 2nd half they put him up in the box and he was more involved.

They're still learning what he can and can't do, and what they can trust him with, so this is still a feeling out process with him as a rookie even though he's starting. He definitely is worthy of consideration to start every week for your team, depending upon what your other options are.

Gregg Williams talked about Landry in his postgame interview last night after being asked about that last hit. He said he does a lot of things that drive him crazy but then he does so many things that make him smile. Gibbs has made comments that Landry is not your typical rookie, but Williams also said we don't see all the times other players had to cover for mistakes made by Landry.
