What's going on with Landry this season? His tackle numbers seem like they're way up this year. Is he playing more in the box this season or some other scheme change on the WASH defense? Or is he just making more plays in his usual center field position this year?

I've always loved his game since he came into the league and have firmly thought he is the #2 safety in the league talent wise behind only Ed Reed. Maybe he is starting to actually get some numbers this year to go along with his talent?

Yes, he's in the box more, and back in coverage less. More tackles (and maybe sacks and FF's), but fewer PD's and INT's. I agree that he's physically talented, but he's definitely gotten Roy Williams Disease in that he's continually going for big hits rather than wrapping up. He's also taken some bad angles on some big plays. It's not like he's in danger of losing playing time, but he really does need to up his game.

From what I've always understood Landry was always suited to be an in-the-box safety. However, WASH has never had a safety that was capable enough in coverage that they could use in coverage while having Landry down in-the-box. While he is not the greatest cover safety he is the best WASH had at it.

This is good news if he is basically going to be the 4th LB in a sense. He'll be able to get more sacks, tackles, FF and fumble recoverires. Plus, accoring to PFW he is always on the field for all of WASH's defensive snaps so the chances will always be there.

uh...Washington had that Sean Taylor guy and he was pretty good (U represent!!!) Prior to his death, Taylor was on his way to becoming the premier FS in the league and Landry was gonna be used in the box as he's better suited too.

:lmao: That was the idea behind drafting Landry. Unfortunately we only got to see about half a season with the two of them before Taylor was murdered. :eek:Also, just so we're clear here, Landry isn't (so far at least) remotely the talent that Taylor was. Taylor ran like a fast CB and hit like a LB. He had unbelievable athleticism and was intimidating as hell. He was one of those guys who you were always aware of on the field just watching the game, and you also could see that the WR's were aware of him too. Landry's only very rarely showed little flashes of that in games, and really hasn't had the impact upon games that Taylor did. Simply put, Taylor was headed toward being an all-time great safety. It pisses me off as a 'Skins fan that he was murdered.

Landry appears to have been moved to SS. He played up on the line a bunch yesterday. He helped in run support and blitzed several times. He struggled in man-to-man coverage on McFadden and Zack Miller, but the Redskins adjusted and got him away from that. He finished with 5 solos, 1 FF, 1 INT, and 3 PDs.
