Larry Fitzgerald's Place in NFL History? (1 Viewer)

how does he stack up with the top frosh/soph debuts for WR in league history...in 2005, he tied for first in receptions (103) at just 22 years old... has anybody as young or younger ever done that before?

Boldin was third as a rookie with 101 at age 22/23, which is pretty similar. He also had 157 catches in his first two seasons despite missing six games, which I would call more impressive. Add on the 102 from this season, and I think he's set the standard for catches at the start of a career.

good point, tick... & i agree...though in fitzgerald's rookie season, he was severely effected by a high ankle sprain... so fitz was well enough to play... but could have hypothetically done better also if not for HIS injury...

boldin & fitzgerald between them missed their last THREE seasons of college... boldin was a prep QB & for some of his three seasons at florida state & is presumably still learning nuances of position... fitz left pitt after just his soph season (year at hargrave military ((?)) so his high school class was three years removed from graduation by draft)... scary thing for nfc west defenses is these guys could get better...

maybe they should draft a prototype LT... there are a few good ones even after dabrick...

or they could add a skill position player... can you see that offense with a vernon davis routinely splitting the safeties in the seam route? he would be a frightening addition...

or deangelo williams, lawrence maroney (lendale white if he lasts) type would be upgrade over the "incumbents", shipp & second rounder from CAL...

or cutler to groom behind warner for a year...

* thanx for the quick work & 20 deep context, david...

There are some bad teams = need to throw on that list. The guys who stick out to me are Chrebet (where's MeShawn?!), Jackson (TE!!), the RB's to some extent, and the different era guys, especially Hennigan.

how would fitzgerald fare historically in receiving yards (2,189) & TDs (18)... using the same first two seasons parameter...

Isnt it amazing to see Wayne Chrebet on that list?
It is also amazing that LT (a RB) is tenth on the list.
I'm also surprised to see Andre Johnson considering all the flack David Carr's gotten.
Is it Jabar Gaffney or Corey Bradford that is going to steal AJ's receptions?
Is that why Andre Johnson did so bad this season? All those other great Houston WRs stealing his catches?(In my PPR league, he finished 44th among WRs for the year. Even just going with fantasy points per game to account for missed games he still was below 30th.)

his place in history is on my keeper league team :moneybag:
:goodposting: I traded McNabb, Donald Driver, and my 2006 3rd early this season for Fitzgerald, a 2006 2nd, and Hasselbeck. (Hasselbeck was a throw in. I already had Palmer who was the #1 QB at the time. McNabb was #2 and Hasselbeck was a ways down.) Helped me win the championship and scoring title

Fitzgerald needs another good year (98 catches) to pass Boldin - how ridiculous are his catches when he did it in less games (40) than everyone on the list except Winslow Sr. (39) and Lionel Taylor (26!? And didn't have a catch his rookie year!). Imagine what Andre would do with a real NFL QB instead of that jabronie.
No kidding. I don't own Andre in any leagues but I hope they get their passing game together just so his talent doesn't go to waste.
