WARNING: let me start off by saying that in no way do I intend for this thread to be construed as racist in any way...I'm trying to look at pure facts here and nothing more!!!!

As a Dynasty team owner always trying to hit on "the next big thing" and past owner of Brock Forsey (but eventually waived him), this question was always in the back of my mind while he was on my squad....and now that Forsey is somewhat relevant again in FF circles I thought I'd bring this up for discussion.

Who was the last relevent Fantasy Football Running Back that was white?

From memory, the only one I can think of in recent past would be John Riggins in the late 70's I believe...but even then, Riggins was a big bruising Fullback and not a true tailback?

The other immediate responses I'm assuming would be Mike Alstott who is also a big Fullback, or the one week wonder types like Brad Hoover who is also a Fullback.

I'm trying to discover whether or not a true white Tailback, such as Brock Forsey, would ever be successful in the NFL and even worthy of bothering with him as a long term Dynasty prospect that could become an every week FF type contributer someday.

I took a look at the latest FBG top 200 list and the only white RB's on that list were Brock Forsey and Mike Alstott. Again, I don't consider Alstott to be a true tailback as Brock Forsey is.

So, from what I remember the recent past shows that it hasn't happened, the list of relevent white Tailbacks in the NFL presently is slim to none, and I don't know of any college prospects that would have a chance to succeed anytime soon either....with this in mind, could one without ever seeing Brock Forsey play or know anything about him assume that he just will never amount to a whole lot based strictly on the fact of his skin color?

Definitely sounds shallow I know, and I'm a little uneasy even writing this...but, is there some merit to these thoughts?

That uneasy feeling was your conscience telling you not to ask it. What is the relevance?

If you look at Fortune 500 CEOs, they're almost all white males; can we therefore assume that a black man or a white women will never amount to a whole lot? What an incredible asinine idea.

I agree, it is an asinine idea...but, why is it that history shows it just doesn't happen then?Your theory is true, but I have to say Business and Athletics are completely different animals to compare.Let me just add that I would love to see Forsey succeed!

Because Asians are generally smaller than other races. That's just reality. Regarding this subject, the truth of the matter is that we are talking about the 32 or so best RB's in the world. These guys have incredible talent in speed, power or both. It's not the white guys can't be good RB's, just not in the NFL very often because of the competition. The very best RB's happen to be black because they can play the position better than others. It's that simple. I don't feel bad as a white person because it's only the best players in the world we're talking about, not the average black or white person.

Heeeey aren't you Jimmy the Greek? But seriously, howz about Brian Piccolo?? Truthfully don't know if he was a RB or if he was, how good. The name just kind of plopped into my head.

I'd like to jump in here and say that I think it is ridiculous that a few of you are labeling this guy a racist for stating the obvious. However, I don't understand what his agenda is here. I don't think he could honestly be making fantasy football decisions based on race but I do think he is doing a bit of fishing. It is no coincidence that there are no starting white RB's or CB's in the NFL and those just happen to be the two most athletically challenging positions. Sometimes, I swear people just look for a reason to play the racist card.

Based on name alone, I figure the following guys should be white:

Chad Johnson (sounds like some guy from Kentucky)

Steve McNair (Irish, of course)
Donovan McNabb (another Leprechaun lover)I don't believe I've ever met a guy named Chad that wasn't a scrawny white guy from the sticks that rolled up the sleeves on his t-shirt and had one of those litte pre-pubescent mustaches.

I apologize if this was taken out of context by anybody, but being white myself, this was far from being a racist issue for me. Just thought it was something interesting to discuss other than the usual topics on here like "How's "so and so's" injury?" or "is "so and so" gonna be the starter this week?I was hoping you guys would be able to convince me otherwise that these assumptions were false, no other agenda than that. Here's for one hoping that Brock Forsey bucks the trend and become's the Eminem of the NFL!

Good post, but the Shark Pool is for NFL Talk, no? Eveything discussed here doesn't necessarily have to pertain to FF.

Get off it. Go feign moral superiorty elsewhere.

Hey offdee, were you sitting at the bar with me and my friends on Sunday? We were trying to figure out the same thing. HAHAHA :suds:

Did any of you see the guy who won the gold medal in the 400M at the Olympics this past August. If a caucasian can win that race then it is possible for one to be an elite NFL RB. Will Brock Forsey be the guy? I don't know never seen him play, but I would not base any decision on race alone. In fact I would never even consider it a factor. I'm sure all GM's and coaches don't care about a guys race as long as he can produce and neither should you.

Here's my theory. I think that college coaches simply do not recruit white RBs. Much in the same way that black QBs were neglected for so long.I remember an outstanding RB from Indiana, Alex Smith. He was always one of the leading rushers in the big 10, but it seemed like he barely got a sniff in the NFL. There are plenty of good white RBs at the high school level, but it seems as if they all get bulked up and moved to FB or TE.

Is it possible to have this be a rational discussion? Maybe, but I doubt it, and I'm not willing to spend the time patrolling it to keep it civil.
