Mort just reported that Culpepper will be traded within the next 24 hours...to either the Raiders or the Dolphins. Specifically that it would happen before the FA period begins.

Hope he's right...I'm ready for some actual player activity; and Culpepper just needs to be out of Minny. That's a terrible situation brewing.

 He's got Raiders written all over him...Culpep to Moss, part Deux...with Porter playing the role of C. Carter.

I think both C-Pep and Moss both realize how much they need one another... I REALLY would like to see this happen....

Al Davis will be in heaven...he's got his old HC back, he'll have a strong armed QB and the best deep threat in the NFL. They won't win a lot of games, but Davis will have fun watching them lose.

Minnesota may not get anything close to what he is worth, but they have a boatload of money. I think if they use that money wisely, this is a Super Bowl calibar team. Can Brad Johnson do it again?

He actually said that he thought a deal would get done before the new year starts this weekend. He said it could be in the next 24 hours, or maybe even next week.

I thought Culpepper and Moss were whining at each other still?
Was wondering about that. Well if it's gonna happen, OAK is the perfect place. The proud cornerstone of NFL dysfunction :bag: And it might be about to happen, but am I the only one who somehow can't see him in a Fins uniform

I would think that this will do wonders for the value of Brad Johnson
possibly. he's still a pedestrian fantasy QB at best and someone you dont want starting for your dynasty team. He goes from depth to a backup fantasy QB, but anything higher.

 agreed. But, imho, he goes from QB20+ to quite possibly QB 8-12.

I think Minnesota goes into rebuild mode for a year. I see BJ doing aight, but nothing specatcular. Fantastic QB3, but that's about it. I also expect him to miss time due to age....But good for him if he gets one more nice signing bonus before he calls it a career....

can you say welcome to Minny Drew Brees :P
I don't see Brees playing inside the Dome...although you would think to trade someone of CPepp's ability that you would have to know you are going to get a great QB out of the FA market. I can't see CP in Miami but he did play at UCF in Orlando if memory serves me right.

He was a top 7-8 QB in most leagues over the last half of the season. Any reason that would not continue?

7th pick for culpepper
I don't really see the Raiders paying that much for him. Heck, they got Randy Moss for a 7 and change, why would they pay that much for a guy that is injured, has pissed off ownership in multiple ways and who is owed $6 million soon?I can see them making it a second round pick this year, maybe. More likely a conditional pick next year, based upon playing time and health.

Hasta la vista, Kerry. Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.

#17 overall and Pepper for #7 overall I think is the most likely scenario. Either that, or a 2nd rounder straight up. I'd really be surprised if it was anything else.

If Miami doesn't get the deal done and Pepp goes to Oak, they probably have little chance of getting Brees as Minny will throw a boatload "no pun intended" at him

If the Vikings get into the top-10 in the draft b/c of this trade, the next question is whether they are hoping one of VY or Cutler falls to them (or maybe they're willing to move up even further).

I read they're interested in brooks

I can see this happening also.

Na dead wrong, Brad Johnson is the guy and they prb will draft a qb to mentor.

this is what i'm thinking. they could be making a play for leinart or young. they could be content to wait for cutler to fall to them.

I hear you. If Minny should land a back like Edge, I'd say Brad had an excellent shot at finishing top 10 this year. Regardless, I assume the Vikings will bring in a young QB to groom (I also assume they don't sign Brees), either this year or next, and Brad will put up one or two years of solid starting QB numbers.

I don't see Minny getting a first or second round pick for Culpepper. The man has made it clear he doesn't want to be in Minneapolis next year and the team has made it clear they don't want him either. I think the best they can hope for is a third rounder and a player. But time will tell.

How can the Raiders afford a guy like C-Pep when they just had to cut Collins because they are in cap problems?

Will the Raiders ever learn?

Adam Schefter just reported that Culpepper will be dealt tomorrow, that the Vikings have a trading partner, that it is not the Raiders unless they raise their offer.

So, basically, if this happens, the Raiders got Culpepper and Moss for a crappy LB, Troy Williamson, and a third round pick......great trade Minny. Once again, Minnesota gets the wrong end of block buster deals, not that I mind, being a Cowboys fan and all.....

yup good call fatness this is exactly what he said:

Adam Schefter just reported on NFL Network that the Vikings have a deal in place to trade Culpepper. He did not say to with team, he said that if the Raiders don't come in with a better trade offer then the one they have with the other team then the Viks will trade him there. He didn't say what the offer was only that Culpepper will be traded by the midnite tomorrow.

I think Miami's lurking in the weeds on this deal waiting to pounce. Don't they have a lot of cap room?

CPep would look pretty good throwing to Chambers, Booker, and McMichael. Given their RB's, they may well view someone like Culpepper as the missing piece to their puzzle.

EDIT to add that Culpepper is a FL guy too.

That is if he is healthy and can return to form.

so that would be Miami. I heard that Miami and Oakland were the 2 teams that were serious. So right now he goes to Miami unless Oakland comes in with a better offer.

Duante has no agent so that is bogus. Duante is his agent.

. . . or Davis is trying desperately to up his offer at the eleventh hour to compete with other teams' offers.

So, if not the Raiders, who are the other teams that could have a deal ready to go and cap room, etc.?Miami

Detroit

NYJets

Baltimore

I don't personally think it's Miami, because I'm not sure Saban is willing to give up picks. Money, perhaps, but not picks.
