Laurent Robinson vs Chaz Schilens (1 Viewer)

It appears as if Robinson is starting to establish himself as the #1 for the Rams. Chaz appears close to returning within the next week and with the way Raider WR's he could quickly establish himself as thier #1. Combined with his ability who would you rather have going forward?

QB decides this one. The Rams have one currently on their roster. Even Boller, who fed Robinson a lot of pre-season passes, is a better option than Russell.

Too bad because Schilens is = to Laurent if not better.

Gotta go with Robinson. Even with mostly garbage around him, he is looking like a viable WR3.

I like Shilens' upside, but with JaMarcus, there's no way you could ever start him.

Russell seems hard to judge at times. In the pre-season he seemed to have something going with Chaz and I have to think that part if his struggles are due to starting 2 rookie wr's. It seems as is Chaz is somewhat of a forgotten man nowadays, you know?

I don't think the Rookie WRs have much to do with him overthrowing routes by 10 feet. I would agree if they were dropping passes, or running the wrong routes. But his misses on Monday Night football were not close to where they needed to be.

I didn't get to see week 2, but I watched the entire Monday night game in week 1, and Russel was horribly inaccurate. It was hard at times to figure which receiver he was even attempting to throwing to. He looked like a high school quarterback, in my opinion. Looking at the numbers from week 2, I'm guessing there wasn't much improvement. I was all about Schilens after reading up on him in the preseason, but watching Russel really makes me doubt there will be much to be had there.

This one is tough one for me as I believe that Avery is being undervalued due to health issues and that as he gets healthier he'll start eating it Robinson's touches. Schilens is currently injured and Russell is incredibly inaccurate, so I guess I'd give it to Robinson, but I wouldn't be surprised if 6 weeks from now I feel differently (once Avery and Schilens are healthier).

I've watched both Oakland games (I'm a Chiefs fan), and he was quite a bit worse in game 2 than in game 1. At one point he was something like 4 for 20 in the Chiefs game. The last drive he hit roughly 4 of 5, so he was ok at the end. Chiefs laid back a bit and paid for it. I'm sitting on Schillens in a start 4 WR league, but I'm not sure why after having seen Russell. It's the lure of having a "#1 WR", but what does that really mean with JaMarcus throwing him the ball?

What is Avery's health issue? Is it his foot? I thought that was healed.
Yes, my assumption is that although he is playing he is not 100%...maybe he is 100% or maybe he won't be 100% anytime this year...all that is purely specualtive...apologies if my speculation wasn't clear

What type of WR is Robinson? I know very little about him and haven't seen much of him aside from last weeks game. I'm assuming when Avery is 100% Robinson should still be the red zone target, would that be a correct assumption?I try not to bank too much on the pre-season but Schilens just looked like he had "it". He seems to have good body control, speed and hands hut I guess that doesn't matter much when the qb couldn't throw it in the ocean.

Robinson appears to be the possession and red zone WR for the Rams...how often the Rams will actiually be in the red zone is debatable, but it's pretty clear to me that Avery is more of a Desean Jackson type player. As always, just my opinion.

Schilens looked good in the preseason WITH Russell throwing him the ball. Perhaps the QB gains a regains a bit of his confidence when his WR1 returns. Not to mention, it'll will open up lanes for Z. Miller who was consistently double-teamed last week. Russell and Miller have both suffered with Schilens out.

I'm not saying Russell will light it up when Schilens returns, but he will get a bit of a boost. Instead of having a rookie(s) on the outside, he will have another veteran (Schilens) to go along with Miller.

The guy has 15 career receptions. That hardly qualifies as a veteran.

You're right, but right now (based upon preseason, last season) he appears to be better than Murphy, DHB. He also appears to have more rapport with Russell. Only time will tell if he's able to continue from where he left-off from last season.

What kind of numbers would you expect from Robinson for the season? Given the fact that they both will be playing in garbage time half way through the first quarter would it be to much to say Robinson could post a 75-1050-8 season?

Those that have been watching the Raiders all through OTA's and preaseason know that when a healthy Chaz comes back, all this talk of JaMarcus being the suck will die down. He will never be a 65% passer, but I expect him to climb up to about 55%. The connection he has with Chaz is telepathic. Watch Chaz blow up, when Robinson hits the WW.

I was surprised with Russel's week 2 performance. He seemed pretty sharp against the Chargers.

I think you may be right on with these numbers which would make Robinson a nice WR2
