Lavar Arrington in Minnesota...? He and (1 Viewer)

I've been checking the news today and didn't see any commentary that Lavar Arrignton was coming to Minnesota for a formal visit.... He was out with Head Coach Brad Childress and some other Viking officials at Manny's last night here in Minneapolis

We desperately need the LB help, but I have yet to see him as one of the FA that we are pursuing.... This would be pretty awesome if we could lock him down... Did anyone else see that he was going to be here?

Wacky thought of the day: given that two FA's who Chicago was targeting (Randle-El and Archuleta) were snapped up by Washington, might the Bears use that money instead to sign Arrington?

You mean the great Hunter Hillenmeyer is simply too good to be displaced from the lineup at WLB by Lavar Arrington?

I think Arrington playing in the cover 2 Chicago runs would barely be an upgrade there. Way too much structure for him.

Why? Childress is trying to instill something Tice never had...discipline on and off the field. While Arrington is a playmaker, he is hardly a disciplined player. It was said that he and Gibbs/Williams didn't get along because of Arrington's nature to try and freelance and be out of position. That wouldn't fit in the Tampa 2 IMHO.

I'm by no means an expert (or even close to one) on the MLB position, but I always thought Lavar would make a great MLB. Maybe not the kind of player that runs the defense and calls signals, but the kind that attacks and runs to the ball. With his speed, I think he could run from side to side going after whoever has the ball, and also blitzing when need be. He'd be more free to attack, and in the right system, with a good safety, I think he could dominate.

Sam Cowart started at MLB and for whatever reason EJ Henderson has never stepped up.I am starting to think the problem is not with the players, but the former coaches.

Yes, it is entirely possible that it was someone other than Arrington. This is why I posted it here (and in the Vikings Offseason thread), to try to confirm it. I was skeptical as well, which is why I am asking people here if they had seen any info that he was on our radar as a possible FA pickup.My buddy saw Childress sitting at a large table with many other people. As he was watching them to see who might be with them, he was surprised when he recognized Arrington. Their waiter spoke with the guy serving the Vikings table, and he confirmed that it was indeed Arrington. Is it possible the two waiters and my buddy are all morons? It's absolutely possible.
