Falcons' Hartwell injures Achilles; likely done for year Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Falcons starting middle linebacker Edgerton Hartwell could miss the remainder of the season after injuring his right Achilles' tendon in Sunday's 31-28 loss to New England. Hartwell hurt himself with 3:46 left in the third quarter and had to be helped off the field. He was later carted to the locker room, then returned to the sidelines wearing a walking boot and crutches. "It didn't look good," said Falcons head coach Jim Mora Jr. of Hartwell's injury. "Unless we get divine intervention, he might be done (for the season)." Hartwell signed a six-year free-agent contract with the Falcons in the offseason after spending his first four NFL seasons with Baltimore. The 26- year-old was a starter for the Ravens in each of the past three years and racked up a career-high 191 tackles in 2002. Atlanta will also be without nickelback Chris Cash for an extended amount of time after he suffered a possible broken right arm in the fourth quarter

brooking can move to the middle and ike reese or boley can start at WLB - thats my best guess.
I thought I saw Ike Reese taking a lot of playing time late ...
Reese was badly exposed on those TE catches yesterday. If he is their answer to losing Hartwell, the Atlanta defense is in big trouble.

They really dont have a lot of choice. I was reading on the Falcons MB that after halftime, but before Hartwell's injury, they had benched DeMo cause he was getting pancaked in the running game (dude is only 215 pounds facing a TE, what do you expect) ... but at any rate, the issue per them is whether they go:WLB DeMo

MLB Brooking

SLB Reese/Boley

or

WLB Brooking

MLB Reese

SLB DeMo

Some were advocating moving Demo to SS cause Carpenter and Scott have been tackling so poorly. I am sure there are going to be changes of some sort ...

Per KFFL:NOTES AND MISCELLANEOUS UPDATES-- 10/10 -- LB Ike Reese is likely to take over at middle linebacker in place of LB Edgerton Hartwell (Achilles'), who is out for the remainder of the season
