LB Ray Lewis - 2009 Projections (1 Viewer)

I was wondering what the experts here think about Ray Lewis?

Norton is projecting him:

Tackles 88

Assits 35

Sacks 4

Pass Defended 10

This would ranking him the #6 LB this yr.

How do you guys feel about these projections?

What about how the new DC will affect his stats?

Lastly, how many yrs do you think he has left at this level?

Thanks!!

I'd consider Lewis a year-to-year player at this stage of his career. I don't think much will change with the new DC and given the extreme lack of tackle opportunity the Ravens had last season, there's nowhere to go but up in that regard. I'm not comfortable projecting above-average sack and PD numbers for Lewis, but he's capable of that. And I think 88+ solos is well within his reach this year.

I say 115 tackles (85 solo) 2-3 sacks, ff, fr, and int (a piece) and anywhere from 6-10 pd seems feasible. Remember he was the ONLY Middle Linebacker in the NFL last season to have at least 2 sacks/2 int/2 ff/2 fr last season.

He was a monster in the playoffs and I don't see any reason why that shouldn't be the case this season- he's definitely still got it.

I think he's an ideal acquisition for dynasty teams built to win this year (or in redraft leagues), although I can't see it being too easy to offload him come season's end as anything more than a throw-in.

Great point. He had 29 tackles (23 solo), 2 forced fumbles, 2 tackles of loss, and 1 pass deflection in the 3 game playoff run. Lewis is able to play great (1st team all pro last season) in the twilight of his career because of his intelligence and preparation. He has been able to change his game as he has gotten older to make up for any loss in speed/quickness. His last 3 seasons totals of 10.5 sacks, 7 interceptions, and 27 pass deflections are great totals for a player at 31,32,33 (His age the last 3 seasons).

Remember he's also 2 interceptions away from joining Rodney Harrison as the only players to record 30 sacks and 30 int's in a career.

Ray isn't the Ray he was 5 years ago, but then again who is?

He's still at the top of the food chain and his numbers will stay towards the top of the league. He still runs sideline to sideline and hits like a Mack truck. Just ask Ahmad Hall about the hit Lewis laid on him in the playoffs last year.

95 solos 24 assists 3 sacks 2 int's 4 ff 2 fr

Top 10 Redraft IDPer, Top 35 for Dynasty
