Hi everyone, just signed up here at FBG to cast a line out and see if I can fill out the 'BEER AND BONG' long term dynasty league I'm starting up this year. 5 teams are filled by myself and some acquaintances, so Im looking for 7 more GMs who basically want to play simulation fantasy, which means things like contracts, large rosters, and a league that expands regularly, albeit slowly.
Here's a link to the charter, which is about 90% finished, but the salient points are as follows:
- Hosted on MFL
- $32.50 for the first year (via LeagueSafe). Next year will see both an increase in cost and a required two year buy in.
- 30 man rosters, 9 starter IDP with 3 flex starts. Additionally each team has a 15 player taxi squad comprised of drafted rookies.
- Veteran draft will take place after all GMs have paid and will be conducted via MFLs online draft. Order is a nonstandard snake format described in the charter. Rookie draft will be conducted separately in snake format. This rookie draft will take place every year on or around May 1st.
- The league is intended to be stats- and details-heavy, for those of us who are looking for more of a simulation feel (i.e. Half PPR for RBs while there is full PPR for receivers, etc). Scoring rules can be found here, referred to as ZealotsPPR.
- Blind bid waivers, first come first serve once players are unlocked.
- Payouts listed in the charter. I won't bother listing them because they will increase next after the inaugural year. It is worth noting that there is a franchise payout that is paid into and rolls over every year until a franchise wins back to back championships.
- I am trying to work out the numbers to do at least basic contracts this year, which I'm pretty close to. In the future I fully intend to integrate contracts and at least a basic salary system, most likely beginning 2019-2020.
- 6/12 teams make the playoffs, top two seeds receive byes. Championship week 16. There is a consolation bracket with a (probably) slightly higher than average payout as well as honorable mention in the ring of honor for teams who just don't quit.
I'm very excited and eager to get this underway, but I fully intend to run this league for many years to come, so I've been patient with actually starting it until we have what appears to be a reliable group of GMs who are interested in starting this thing up and watching it grow. I'm a longtime Dungeons and Dragons DM who really enjoys running complex systems and working with people to do it.
I'll be erring a lot on future decisions to keep the spirit of the league intact as a engaged dynasty league, but there will be a competition committee of three people who are not me after the inaugural year that will make decisions objectively. I'm a big fan of delegation and letting the players have a hand in the development and adjustment of a system like this, so if this all sounds like your bag (don't forget the weeks to month long draft!) Get ahold of me and we'll talk.
