League Management Sites (1 Viewer)

I am looking for opinions on the free ESPN league management site? Would it work well for a new dynasty league? Any issues? I have used Fanball and CBS in the past. I was very happy with both of them, especially Fanball for the price. Thanks.

I can't speak on how ESPN handles dynasty leagues, but as commish of my local redraft league last year I feel ESPN was better than the previous 2 free sites we used, Fox and AOL/Fanball. I liked the layout better and it was easier to use. Supposedly, Yahoo is no longer charging for live scoring, so that may be worth a look.

I have used ESPN for the past few years. I cant speak to dynasty but will speak to keepers. It retains stats from prior year and retains keepers. The pros are too long to list so I will focus on the cons:

Scoring isnt fully customizable in that I brought an issue up about team defense points against with ESPN last season and it hasnt been corrected yet. Last year I had the giants defense and Eli tossed an INT which was returned for a TD. Technically my Gmen D didnt allow that TD yet the total points against for team D counted those points. I asked them to account for this in the future.
Live draft - No logic built in to pick by needs. I dont think you can prioritize what position to take in each round either. This is a problem if someone isnt available to draft.
24 Hour clock or 12 hour clock draft - this doesnt exist and it should. All the above being said, I like ESPN a lot and just hope they progressively enhance the offerings. I just checked and you can only keep 16 players. You can do IDPs as well.

Fanball is garbage. I was with them for 6 years and they got progressively worse. MFL is probably the best for Dynasty but I know a lot of people ##### about the ####ty UI. CBS is solid but expensive.

I took over as commish for our keeper league at CBS and moved it to ESPN. We are having a bunch of new owners so we are starting from scratch. I have our league set up for 18 roster spots. Also, from your "My Team" page you can rank your own players and here you can set how you want the auto draft to select your picks in the event your not there.

Last year was only my first year in fantasy so I only have CBS and what I've seen on ESPN to go by but IMO why pay $200 for what you can get for free. The potential winners of our league sure are happy about having an extra $200 going to the prize pool.

You didnt understand my point so let me explain. ESPN is missing the functionality that is offered on other sites like yahoo in that its missing the option to assign position by round. Thats not always good but as an example, two of our owners didnt show up for the draft on time and with a 120 second clock, the system wont wait for them to show up and pick. One team took brady in the first and manning was his highest prerank in the second. The logic or functionality that is missing should skip over manning, as noone would want two. The commish had to pause the draft, pick for the team and then progress (which is a pain in the ### and delays the draft). Preranking is nice but you could potentially end up with a very lopsided team heavy at one or two positions. As the draft pool is depleted, it tends to bunch up players at one position. If only they could take some of the logic that is built into Draft Dominator and autopick for them......
