Hey guys, It looks as if we may have a opening. Dues were due by Friday amd he is unpaid and MIA for a few days but was extremely active this off-season. No returned phone calls or emails so...If I do not here from the MIA owner by 10pm ish tonight I will be forced to replace him as a owner. Sad to do but the show must go on. The draft is supposed to start at Midnight tonight but may be delayed until later in the day. Long timer draft (see rules below). This is the second year of this league. The team that may be available is a good one. Damn good one actually. The team name is Tennessee Orange.
http://www40.myfantasyleague.com/2008/home/43884 -Thats the link to the league. Again the team is Tenn Orange.
It is a $50 league.
Here is the complete rules:
Additional League Rules Setup
Welcome to the Dirty Dozen League
The purpose of this league is to obtain 12 diehard fantasy football owners who are:
1. Dedicated to their team over the long haul (many many years)
2. Talkative on the message board to discuss anything and everything to do with our sport and/or lifes issues in general. This is in place because it is my personal belief the more owners know each other and interact on a normal basis the better the chances that rivalries will form..which in turn will make games more important to owners and wins and losses that much more enjoyable... or devastating. In turn owners will have greater pride in their teams and look to better them at every chance they get.
This league needs owners who are out-going and personable. I am not looking for kids..sure smack is welcome always and we will have a message board area just for that!..but we are looking for adults who think for themselves and can back there talk on a subject with a reasonable argument. If your gonna tell me my RB sucks then at least be able to say why without me needing to pull out a urban dictionary to translate what you said lol.
Hopefully each owner gains 11 friends when they join this league. Competition should be high but not to the point that your always arguing or would sacrifice morals and character to win. This is for fun...serious competitiveness...but fun to enjoy all year long.
If you have been told your long winded in emails and message boards then this is is home for you lol. I love to chat football or anything that is worthy of talking about. I always had a bunch of friends and the best times were cutting it up..everythng and anything was subject to our abuse lol. Thats what I look forward to here also.
3. Have visions and plans to build a team that will remain competitive throughout the years (duh!)
4. Love to draft and have an extremely high amount of players on your roster both offensive and IDP. (if not you'll be hating it)
5. Look to advance your team through trading with other teams.
6. Not be stuck in traditional thinking regarding scoring, line-ups etc.
This is a year long league..meaning as their is no off-time in the NFL there will be no off-time here.
One person cannot own or manage more than one team. (one call to "cousin Joey in NY" and fingers will be broken for violaters)..actually cheating is something I take VERY serious and have zero tolerance for it.
MEMBERSHIP DUES:
The dues are $50 (American Dollars) each owner per year and will be broken down to be distributed like this:
MFL has to get paid....
Each division winner gets a small trophy.
The TOILET BOWL winner gets a "surprise gift" (believe me it won't cost very much) but it makes the game fun to play and the gift will change year to year likely.
The Champion and Champion loser both get a trophy. They will not be too expensive. The Champion will get all remaining membership dues minus the trophies and shipping costs.
As Ricky Bobbys daddy says "Your either first or your last"
haha
There will be no additional costs for trades, free agency pick-ups etc.
There will be no refunds for dues for any reason what-so-ever including if you get kicked out.
If the league breaks up at any point in time any member who paid there dues that year will be refunded the amount they paid. Minus any costs that have already concurred that year.
ALL DUES MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE ANY DRAFTING STARTS .
After year one all dues must me to me before July 4th.
Overview
This will be a 12 team league
Each player can only be on one roster.
Each Team name will start with a major to mid-size city name or state name ....then your team name after that. If your team name would not be accepted by the NFL then don't try it here I will refuse it. Most people should have heard of the city name. The city should be known in that state as a larger city.
(examples of good names: Los Angeles Earthquakes, Olympia Rainmakers, Little Rock Rebels, Maine Lumbermen, South Dakota Hunters.)
(Examples of names that wouldn't fly: Boston Bi-atches, Ansonia Pimps, Oregon Outlawz, (though Oregon Outlaws would be fine), Rock City Rapers)
Approval of all team names goes through the commish.
Helmets must be chosen for all teams...use the same criteria if the NFL wouldn't allow it neither will I.
No avatars on the message boards will be allowed that is not related to football or your team name or you. Again use the NFLs morals as a guideline to how owners should conduct themselves.
I am not going to complain about foul language. I have no problem with men speaking as men, Though avoid any racial slurs. That is extreme ignorance to me and I don't have tolerance for it.
Ladies...or men that lean a little on the prudish side...if you are considering this league then know that foul language will be spoken time to time and if any of those words upset you then think twice about being here. This is also not a ad campaigning for people that only use cussing as the only way they communicate but I see nothing wrong with it as long as its within reason on the message board.
League scoring is defined on MFL and will not change. The only way it can change is in the off-season (after the superbowl and before the NFL draft) if 10 of 12 owners agree to it. It was set up the way it is with the intention of making all positions important, in too many leagues DE/DT are worthless compared to others, same with DBs etc. The TE has even been adjusted up to bring the position to utmost importance, The reasoning I had was in a real NFL team a team would suffer if any position was left weak..and I wanted the same consequence here. No generic cheatsheets will help you with this scoring. Your best tool will be studying trends on def and know your positions well S to FS and a shut down corner.. MLB, WSL and SSL different formation advantages and disadvantages etc. On offense reception leaders and TEs who...well.. look at the scoring..then go to "top performers" in MFL and you figure it out. This should be extremely challenging to draft and the first 12 draft picks will matter...not just the first 3. If you do not get LT you are not in trouble..because there may be a LB that is just as good etc etc. This is not meant to be exactly balanced between off and defense..it is IDP heavy.
Message Board:
We will not use MFLs message board as it quite frankly sucks. I will set us up another on a free site that I know of. If this ever turns out to have an expense we will pay for one from our dues. I have used this one thats free for years and I don't expect that to change but you never know. Not many leagues use this so its so far so good as far as being free. Its top notch though!
STARTING LINE-UPS:
Weekly starting Line-ups will be 1 QB, 2 RBS, Minimum 3 WRs (Maximum 5), Minimum 1 TE, (Maximum 3) for a total of 6 starting WR/TEs, 5DL, 6LB, 6DBs ~ No Kickers ~ No Special Teams ~
We use the meat and potatoes of football...not the salad and the salad dressing...go toss salad elsewhere lol
DRAFTS:
In both drafts picks may be traded for players or other picks for up to one year in advance. If any trades are made for future years picks and/or players that years dues will have to be paid in full and are non-refundable. Only the team trading away those future years picks has to pay the dues for the future year.
Rookie Draft: Rookie draft will always be held first. July will usually be the start. Email draft via MFL ...8 hour timer..(off between 2am-6am est.) All rookies drafted are automatic franchise players.(note: the draft timer may be shortened as the draft goes on..depending on time until the start of the season and the general speed of the draft. As long as a owner can check in four times a day (Morning, Lunch, when getting home from work and before going to bed) then nobody should have any problems. Checking in as often as possible is preffered of course and using the draft card when possible is recommended. This keeps the draft moving atr a good speed and is couteous to the 11 others that will be constantly be checking in. I expect our owners to remember that 11 others are waiting on them and will have respect concerning that and check in as often as life permits.)
Rookie draft will be 10 rounds. Teams have the option to draft as many or few rounds as they like. The first year the order for the rookie draft will be picked by MFL software all rounds will be randomly picked. Each year thereafter every round will be the same as the first 1-12, 1-12 etc.
The first 6 rounds will be determined at the conclusion of week 13. The worst team will have the first pick in the future rookie draft second worst the second etc. This will be determined by the standings report.
The 1-12, 1-12 will also be the way we will draft rookies and vets in year 4 when both drafts are combined. (see below under "rosters")
Regular (Veteran) Draft: This is held directly after the rookie draft and will go until all rounds are completed. Again teams have the option to stop drafting early if they choose not to go all rounds. Each round of the regular (vet draft) will be random until year four when both the rookie draft and vet draft are combined then it will switch to a 1-12, 1-12 system (each round will be the same as the first). The randomness of years 1-3 will be fairness based on complete randomness. ALL teams have that random chance of great or bad spots to pick. Before too much weight is placed on this I will say that I have seen many low picks turn out to be better picks than high ones. Thats the nature of the game and the luck that comes with it. So know and accept the rules concerning this way of draft picks before you sign on.
If any team times out more than twice the rest of their draft will be placed on automatic. Meaning the system will automatically pick from the top choice on their draft card first, draft sheet second and MFLs default ranking last or if no other cards are set. Each team will be able to adjust their cards but as soon as their pick is up it will automatically pick. Those teams lose the option of drafting "live" for the rest of that particular draft (rook or reg). If the commish finds that MFLs default picking is used at least two times he reserves the right to stop the draft and replace that owner. Nothing will be refunded and the new team will play for free that year. Emergency situations will be dealt with on a per case scenerio. I strongly suggest communication if anyone suspects a problem may arise. Cell phone numbers will be collected by the commish for this reason and a emergency contacts number must be left. If you get into a auto accident we do not want to replace your team. Have someone that can draft in your place if need be ready if this is possible for you.
FRANCHISE PLAYERS:
Franchise players are your players to keep forever unless dropped. Franchise players can be aquired a few different ways.
1. In the rookie draft. Any rookie you draft is an automatic Franchise player.
2. Through trade.
3. If you pick a rook off the waiver wire (or draft a undrafted rook in the rookie draft in the vet/regular draft) and start him 5 games he earns franchise players status. This must be reported to the commish asap. Game starts are non-transferable. Meaning if you start a player three times and trade him the new team still would need to start him 5 games..not 2.
4. Dropping another franchise player for a rook aquired through the waiver wire...the hitch is the player dropped has to be either aquired through trade and/or picked in the first three rounds of a rook draft....this would bypass the 5 start rule but must be named before the following NFL draft.
example:Its year 2006... week 12 a team picks up Colston the season ends shortly after. The NFL draft is in a week and the owner decides he rather drop Kellen Clemmens..but he can't Clemmens wasn't drafted until the fourth round. So instead he drops Leinart who was a second round pick and can now keep Colston. This would still be in effect if Clemmens was aquired through a trade. If his original owner didn't draft him at least round three or higher he would not be eligable to drop to keep another FP.
Franchise players can also be traded and they will retain their FP status.
If a FP is dropped by accident the team that dropped them has to let me and the other owners know via the message board what happened. If they do not and another owner picks them up first then its tough luck. I will see times on the transaction menu and the MB to see if while he was writing someone else swarmed in..in that case it would be reversed. Mistakes happen but be careful and they won't. FPs lose their FP status yrs 1-3 if they are dropped. A team picking up a waived FP is just picking up a player not a FP. Year 4 and on all players are FPs so it wont make a difference.
ROSTERS:
Rosters will work up to a Dynasty type format..meaning we keep all of our players....within a few years anyway.
After Year ONE each team will name 20 veterans on their roster as Franchise Players before the following years draft with an option to keep five extra players ...with the penalty. The penalty for the last 6 teams drafting in the rookie draft per round (the best 6 from the year before) will lose their first 3 rounds of rookie picks to pick up the 5 player option. The first 6 teams drafting in the rookie draft (the 6 worst teams from the year before) will lose their second through fifth round rookie picks for using this option.
After Year TWO: each team will name 20 additonal veteran players on their rosters as Franchise Players. Ten extra players may be named as FP with the penalty of losing their 1st and second round rookie picks. (all teams).
After Year THREE: All players on your roster are kept on all teams.... and to draft you will have to drop players. Veterans and Rookies will be drafted together for a total of however many rounds it takes to complete rosters and Taxi Squads. Any team not wanting to draft a round or many rounds must tell the commish. Nobody appreciates waiting for nothing. If the team does not tell the commish the commish can impose a penalty depending on the individual situation.
Taxi Squads
The purpose of the Taxi Squad (TS from here on) is to develop players that may take 3 or more years to develop. There is a 30 man limit on the TS and only named Franchise Players (FPs) can be placed on the TS. TS players can be moved from the active roster to the TS as long as the limits aren't breached in either. After year 4 when all players are FPs then TS will really be used more for building players and waiting for them to develop.
Active Rosters
There is a 60 man active roster maximum. Yes this is high, I am aware but its meant to sandbag..remember this is the Dirty Dozen not the sparkling clean league.....know your players when you draft or you will be in deep ####.
Injured Reserve
5 man limit. Only players that are on the NFLs IR may be placed on it. These players will need to come off of this when they are off the NFLs IR or at the end of our season and placed either on your active roster, cut or on your TS if they are FPs.
WATCHDOG GROUP:
There will be a three member watchdog committee. There will be three back-up watchdog members in case a watchdog member or more is involved in the dispute.
Watchdog (hereafter refered to as WD) members and back-up members will be assigned by the commish. They will remain in that position until either they do not want it or the commishoner feels it good to get other members involved for a change. The WD is responsible to settle matters that the commish feels either:
as of 2/1/08 I am assigning Watchdogs as
1. Toronto
2. Washington
3. Portland
and the three back-up members will be:
1.Philly
2.Salt Lake
3. Texas
This was not based on anything in particular. I just named the first 6 teams that popped into my head from memory.
A. requires more than a one man decision
B) The commish is directly involved in and refers it to the WD himself to be sure parity is received.
(This is not a escape route to use when you do not agree with a commishes decision)
C. Any case the commish decides to throw onto them instead of rule on something himself.
The purpose of the watchdog is to settle matters in more of a league voice without going to the extremes of a league-wide vote.
The Commish can rule on something with a team and if the team disagrees they can ask the WD for a challenge...and if all three of the WD members are against the ruling then the commish will have to come up with a different ruling. A team can use this one time per season. If the watchdog overturns the commish then the team will not be penalized the one time and will still have a time left to challenge a ruling. This is in place for the league to assure them that the commish does not turn Hitler and run amuck with crazy ideas. A safegaurd if you will. Again it will have to be a unanymous decision by all three WD members to overturn a commishes ruling. This challenge is only usable on rulings that are against a team or penalties. Not leage wide decisons unless handed to the WD by the commish.
In the case of a owner disagreeing with a ruling or penalty against him each party involved will have two times each to communicate to the WD members on why they feel the way they do. The team that the ruling is against (defendant) will speak first, commish second, defendant, commish) at that point if the WD members have any questions they can ask and the same procedure will repeat. Then the WD has 24 hrs from the end of discussion to come to a decsion. If they do not in that period the ruling stands. If a game is played in between this prcedure the teams will go on as it was before the decsion and the game played cannot be changed unless WD rules it so. The WD cannot pass down pusnishments that is the commishes job unless specifically given to the WD to decide.
The WD will also help with making sure that rosters are correct etc. This includes back-up WD members.
Backup WD members will be named by the commish of who is to take the place of a regular WD member if one or more WD members is allowed in the dispute. Usually a rotation will be used unless the commish thinks a back-up member may be partial to one side or the other. The commish can also name a back-up if he feels a reg WD member may be partial on a particular case for whatever reason.

Misc. ranting worth knowing:
If collusion is suspected.. the commishoner reserves all rights to refer it to the WD committee if a satisfactory decision is not made by the commish.
Do not throw games.. if anyone is proven or if I or the WD committee finds you guilty beyond reasonable doubt to have intentionally lost a game that player can face at minimum a 6 slot drop in both drafts and possible banishment without any refund of monies. By proof it must be overwhelming.. not because a player benched a usual star for a decent reason.
It is your team.... and I like as little government as possible involved in an owners decsion with their team. I have seen what seemed to be horrific decisions turn out to be great calls by the owner in question. Do not come to me accusing unless you have a decent case to bring that to the table. Just because YOU think Randy Moss is outstanding and has top value dies not mean that all owners do..and if Moss was traded for say Robert Meachum don't cry to me. The owner trading Moss may see more value in Meachum who is younger.
We play to win EACH AND EVERY GAME HERE.. that is rule.
Concerning player position changes:
NFL.com then FOOTBALLFootballguys.com is the depth chart used as the final judge on a players position. If one differs from another then we will use any recent news (published via legit sourse) to decide which is more accurate. If no news is found then the commish will check other sites that he is aware of to see which corelates the closest. Commish holds final say in this case. A players position can be changed at anytime diuring the season and an owners player will be adjusted. This does not happen retroactive..it does not cover special or gimmick plays either. Meaning if last week your DE played as a LB but nobody changed his depth chart position then he is still a DE. If it changed the Saturday before the game and nobody caught it and the player was started a lineman though he was a linebacker then its too late for that Sundays game. If it is caught after that game then he will be changed to a LB for future starts. If a DE is a PT linebacker or safety etc is a LB and his official position is a DL or a DB then the player is set in line-ups as their ossicial position.
Though FBG is not FREE I and others in here are members. If a dispute is noted and you are not a FNG member post it on the MB and one of us will verify and I will change it as needed. NFL.com is free.
Concerning ETHICS :
The following are banned:
1.Using waivers to make a trade after the trade deadline.
2."Loaning" players. (i.e. "I'll trade you my backup defense, but you have to give it back after your bye week.").
3. Two-part trades. ("You give me LT this week and I'll give you LJ next week," or, "Here's a 3 player for 3 player trade, but I don't want to give you my RB until next week. Let's trade the other 2 for 2 now and agree to swap the remaining players next week")
If this were suspected of happening I would name it as guilty and possibly refer this to the WD group. If they agree by majority (Two out of three) then the two teams involved would be penalized...anywhere from banishment to draft picks.

Its pretty self-explanitory the best two teams in each bracket get a bye-week week 14...then they play the winners of week 14..who play for the Champion title.
The same goes for the TOILET bowl starting with the 6th best team as the #1 seed in that bracket etc.
Important to know...the TOILET bowl winner wins nothing but bragging rights and a "surprise gift" that they are the best of the worst. We do not award that team a top draft pick, that was all decided with this bracket at the conclusion of week 13. I believe the worst team needs to get the #1 pick not the 7th worst team who wins the TB title. The TOILET Bowl is for fun.
These are the rules as of 7/2/07
These are subject to change once I get all 12 owners in place. Somethings I will be open to discuss and if the league thinks we should go another way then I am open to thinking on it and possibly changing it. I am one man and understand that I may have missed something or not considered something else. All rules will be final though before we draft so no worries there.
Thanks!
(all need to read this and understand it.)
I made this league with the desire of a late start draft after my other leagues drafts took place..though this is "our" league as a whole... it is my league for the making and keeping. I cannot be voted out as commish.. Throughout the years I have been in too many leagues where so many rules changed that it ended up being a completely different league than the one I initially joined. With that said it is more important for me to say to you that I will ALWAYS try to be as fair and as impartial as I can possibly be. I know that as a owner of a franchise I would expect that... and you will get that by me. I will treat you as I would like to be treated myself if positions were reversed. The watchdog group is also in place to assure owners that I will not run amuck with things and take advantage of any situation. This is my commitment to the league that I am on the up and up the watchdog group was made by me for your sake; so everyone feels comfortable and secure.
I will also state right up front that I will replace any owner that I deem to be a slackass owner..if an owner is not active in answering trades timely etc. submitting line-ups, drafting in a timely manner etc. I do not want to replace anyone...it is a hassle for me also and I hate to see someones hard earned money go for nothing. I do not take replacing owners lightly and will exhaust all other means within a reasonable time before that would happen.
http://www40.myfantasyleague.com/2008/home/43884 -Thats the link to the league.
