Lee Evans: Man Crush Thread! (1 Viewer)

I am thrilled to death to own Mr. Evans.
Don't worry, it will wear off fast. It only took me 2 weeks after the draft. I hope you're right, so I can unload him for close to 'original' market value. Too many problems in BUF for this to happen, not to mention those # are about 10x his production COMBINED over 3 games thus far.Seriously, do you think a rookie QB is going to step in and throw for 300 and 3? (assuming Evans isn't the only WR to catch anything).Likely sitting him for Coles.... Again... :censored:

 Good news is, it's not like it'll get any worse this weekend with Edwards throwing the ball.

Seriously, I remember last year all the way up till week 8 people just couldn't stop calling Chambers a "great buy low!!!". Sometimes you have to just call someone what they are....a disappointment.

Top 10 last year doesn't mean too much. Not too many people thrilled to have Tiki Barber on their fantasy team this year.

In other words depending on your league scoring, Evans maybe get 8-11 points this week for you...nice points huh for a 5th round pick.

I tried to find where Evans is ranked as a WR in my league, but it only goes up to 60 in rankings.
That is what people were saying this time last year as well. Yet, throughout the second half of the season, Lee Evans had better stats than any receiver in the NFL not named Marvin Harrison.
Fixed...

I am tickeled to own Lee Evans. He's way overpriced, he's ranks extremely low, he's a poor start, he's got a rookie QB throwing him the ball on a terrible offense and I've got to expect him to go off for

yeah, I'm ####### tickled to own him

Also you have to consider when those owners of Evans had to wait until the second half of the season last year, it was to late for them to catch up.Looks like a repeat!

This thread should be grouped with Woz's threads that include disappointment!!!

Random drug test for chaser please!

I'd rather start Roscoe Parrish or Roscoe P Coultrain from the Dukes of Hazzard over Evans!

Write that down!!! :coffee: :goodposting:

the thing I can't get out of my mind whenever Evans comes up is the fact that 20% of receiving yards and 25% of his td's came in one game. Other than that he was a 1000 yard 6 td wr. I know, I know, I know that you can't take out certain games, etc. but he's so wildly inconsistent there's a good chance that he'll be on your bench when has his blowup game (like he was last year on my opponents bench). If you look at his games (below) he feasted on all bad teams and Balt (when they sat their team). So sit him against good teams and play him vs. the scrubs.11 BUF HOU 0 0 0 16 11 265 2 12 BUF JAX 0 0 0 8 5 58 0 13 BUF SD 0 0 0 11 5 45 0 14 BUF NYJ 0 0 0 5 2 91 1 15 BUF MIA 0 0 0 5 3 67 1 16 BUF TEN 0 0 0 8 5 64 1 17 BUF BAL 0 0 0 10 7 145 1

Evans will be productive this year, he just had a tough stretch of games.

It is not like the Bills have a different coach, a different offense, or a different quarterback that can be blamed for his lack of production this year compared to last.

 And given the above, applying our reasoning to this week's game for Evans means we should .....

I got Evans for Cheap this week! He hasnt scored poorly for me yet. I have a ton of depth at running back so I traded Warrick Dunn for Evans. I needed help at WR and he will do just fine. He will finish the season top 15 and I will see all of his production!

Well, I still like him, in a redraft league, i dealt Bowe for him as my 4th WR (behind SSmith/Roy/Colston). So i think it is well worth the gamble.

:hey: Two games and an otherwise stellar career now "Sux"? I don't get this. Obviously he isn't bad. Now, he might not do well this year, but can we be clear that it isn't him? Anymore than LJ or LT suck right now. This is where fantasy football gets in the way of seeing reality and where statistics can blind you.

This is one of the more widespread myths in fantasy football. Evans was very consistent last year in fantasy production (top 10 in terms of consistency). He essentially had 3 bad (terrible) games. Other than that, he was fine.

not even a total of 2 points in my league this year from evans... freakin horrible for a fifth rd pick!!!!Reality dude, he sux, seriously. Cuz he had a good year your gonna crown him, he is who we thought he was. stop showin your thoughts of the but pats you really wanna give him after a good play, ur gonna have to wait a while for that, a rookie qb and RB... no #2 receiver and sucky momentumI estimate 1 butpat for you to give evans this year.... and thats for a tackle after someone picks up one of his fumbles.... thats if he evers catches a pass!!!! :lmao:

With Trent Edwards at QB? I'll pass . . .
Why?
Besides last week did you ever see Edwards play in a NFL game?
He looked pretty good to me in preseason. Since he's a rookie, that's the only opportunity he's had to play in an NFL game. What's your point?
Preseason is not a NFL game..it's practice, and he played against secondary DT's that most players never even made the teams.

Amen to that. I've stopped counting the number of posts pointing out that Houston game and implicitly claiming that Evans was dreck the rest of the season. Just look at that stretch to end the season in the quoted post.Evans's career does have a pattern, but it's not one of a few huge games randomly distributed among a large number of sorry ones. Rather, it's cold starts and hot finishes--every season of his career.

So if you're saying he's never played in an NFL game besides last week, why did you ask if we've ever seen Edwards play in an NFL game besides last week? Are you implying that we have some sort of time machine that can take us into the future to watch him play an NFL game? I don't , but I'd definitely be interested in hearing from those that do, in which case you've made a brilliant inquiry, shattering the bounds of all previous brilliant shark pool inquiries to date and taking us into a new and strange world.EVANS IS PLAYING AGAINST THE JETS DEFENSE!!!! They currently rank 28th in the NFL in passing defense. They've gotten shredded by the Miami Dolphins, and thumped by the Baltimore Ravens. You start Lee Evans even if Gary Coleman was playing QB for the Bills.

How many true rookies on offensively challenged teams have lit it up in the past? I'm not saying it hasn't ever happened, but it doesn't happen often.
Does a rookie QB have to "light it up" for his #1 WR to produce?
:lmao: and no is the answer

I'm not saying not to start Evans, but I'm not seeing 9/205/2 this week.

While I agree that the OP's wishful thinking is a bit... well.... unlikely... I don't think it's as bleak as some have made out to be. I think he's a GREAT buy low candidate if he is really worth very little now. Many of us said heading into to the season that he was going to struggle... maybe not this much, but he did play 3 of the better defenses in the league. He's always been a bit of a streaky player but is one of the best deep threats in the league. That means that worst case scenario he can catch one or two long balls and put up 100 and a touch. I'd also point out that last year he started off at a 2/22/0 rate over the first two weeks and then exploded. He's also traditionally been a stud in December in the home stretch / playoffs.

I have Evans and trying to get rid of him (hard to do nobody wants him), yes he's a great player but on a ####ty team with a very hard sch.Now with a rookiee QB and teams had triple team him (see his stats proof) because he is no doubt the go to guy, time to unload him (if I can).
