Length of scoring (1 Viewer)

I'm in a league that scores:

1 point for rushing TD from 1-5 yards; 2 points for a rushing TD from 6-10 yards; and so on up to 7 points for a rushing TD over 70 yards.

1 point for passing/receiving TD from 1-15 yards; 2 points for a passing/receiving TD from 16-30 yards; and so on up to 6 points for a passing/receiving TD over 76 yards.

1 point for FG from 1-29 yards; 2 points for FG from 30-39 yards; and so on up to 6 points for FG over 60 yards.

A guy can get on the field and break off a 70 yard TD and he is worth more than a guy who scores 5 rushing TDs each of less than 5 yards.

Obviously, this puts more value on a guy like Willie Parker who can take it to the house from anywhere and a little less value on a Rudi Johnson who is not known for doing so.

Throw some names at me that you would target if you were in such a league. Fast Willie and Lee Evans are ones that I am targeting. Also, are there any kickers that you know of that can boot the rock from midfield on a regular basis???

I am thinking deep threat WRs and those who have a high YAC is the way to go here. Chad Johnson and Steve Smith of course, but also guys like Randy Moss, Bernard Berrian, Devery Henderson, Reggie Brown, Santonio Holmes, Donte Stallworth, Calvin Johnson. Sounds like an interesting scoring system.

I would strongly recommend using the Data Dominator to prepare for your draft in this league. You can quickly sort out a list of who scored how many touchdowns at each length.

Last season Javon Walker had receiving TDs of 83, 54, 39 (twice) and 32 yards, and a 72 yard rushing TD. I would target him.

Thanks, Jeff. Is R.Moss still considered a deep-threat?
It all depends on how you think Brady and the Patriots are going to utilize his talent. Moss isn't the best route runner, but he does have above average hands and if the ball is in the air, he's very good at using his size, hands and leaping ability to get it. In my opinion, yes, he's still very much a deep threat, but so also is his teammate Donte Stallworth. New England is going to have a lot of options.

So a chip shot FG is > TD? This may be the gayest scoring system I have ever seen.

Our scoring system is similar but our points don't increase as much (starts at 6 points for a TD, +2 points for every 10 yards). Don't know your starting requirements but we have 1 RB, 1 WR, 2 Flex. The RBs are usually better value because someone like Parker can go 70 for a TD but also get short TDs and yardage points. The WRs can get the long TD but they seem to be more boom or bust - 70 yard TD & 100 yards one week, 25 yards and no TD the next.

One year I won with 3 big WR as it seemed at least one had a big week every week but I tried the strategy since then and I think I got lucky that one year (Moss, Holt, Toomer).

Top players from my league last year that I haven't seen mentioned - Larry Johnson, Frank Gore, S Jackson, Donald Driver, Reggie Wayne, Darrell Jackson, Houshmandzadah.
