Leon Washington (1 Viewer)

Looks like there are 3 rb's to work in now with Shonn, and TJ

even in a PPR league, I really dont see him being effective enough to warrant starting over the likes of waiver wire rb's, or a Jonathon Stewart/Lesaun Mcoy type. maybe if you get points for kickoff and punts.

I am not arguing he is talented, I love him as a player, but I dont see him having enough opportunity to be worthy of start, kinda like a reggie bush on a team that doesnt score enough.

Please convince me otherwise

Agreed.

I've got Washington stashed in both my leagues but I wouldn't feel at all comfortable starting him unless/until he starts showing signs of becoming the decent RB2 I thought he could emerge as.

the problem is that the Jets are not utilizing him properly. He is running between the tackles just like Jones..they run the same plays for both. They should get him the ball in space where he can make a few tacklers miss. It is frustrating. I also don't think Sanchez is looking for him on check downs. Last game he was focused on Edwards the entire game, Leon was open on many occasions.

I just dropped Leon Washington this week for Sammy Morris because even if the Jets use him more I'm not convinced they'll use him in a way that plays to his strengths.

I also think part of the buzz for Leon is in dynasty/keeper formats, as Jones is expected to make his departure at the end of this year. Some are hoping Washington (instead of Green) become the main ball carrier for the team in 2010 - which now has Sanchez, Edwards and Keller.

The NYJ face Buffalo who has lost good IDP 's this season. The Buf Run Defense is ranked as a bottom 3 (Last IMO). They might get P Pozz back this week to help a bit, but there is no real inside threat to stop RB's. They lost a few DBs too.

My take on this week:

T Jones 20-23 carries & no rec targets

L Washington 12-15 carries & 8 targets

S Green 8-12 carries & 2 targets

Each RB will have 4.2+ ypc and NYJ will play ball control offense (Time of Possession 38+ min).

Leon is a nice COP RB to TJ, but is more valuable with S Green due to inexperience.

NYJ offeres Leon a contract this off season (granted lower $ than he wanted).

They did NOT offer a new contract to TJ. S Green is the workhorse of the future.

I like S Green & I own him.

I've been starting him every week but 1 so far, but only because we get return yardage points too. Otherwise, it'd be week and matchup-dependent.

Only reason I'm playing him is because he gets points for return yardage. If he lost that job, I'd probably drop him.

I couldn't work a trade this week that would've had me getting Leon as a toss-in to the main players in the deal. His owner backed out because he thinks Leon is some sort of lottery ticket that could lead him to the promised land.

I don't get it. He's about RB40 in my book, a guy you'd only start if you had both bye week & injury problems.

same here, though even that is not panning out all that well. 1 pt/50 kr, and 1/25 pr, he hasn't done much, but its still better than if you aren't getting that. Then again, I went brady/moss, so my rbs are KSmith, luckily, and then reggie bush and leon. Also lucked out with mendanhall, though I didn't cash in on the monster week. But now he's not primary back either. And I need a flex, so leon fits in there. Going with mendy, ksmith and leon this week, with reggie on the bench. If brady/most start to get things rolling, I wouldn't care much what i get out of flex, anything is bonus. But year, as a jets fan, and all fantasy aside, leon is not being utilized properly. Which is strange because the OC is the same from yesteryears, adn knows leon's strengths...

I posed the same question to a buddy just today. We both own him - me in a 14-team PPR, and him in a 12-team non-PPR.

I'm starting to get a big frustrated with his lack of touches, although in a PPR he's at least good for a handful of points. He just hasn't had that breakout game.

I'm thinking that if Jones gets hurt, they'll turn to Greene as more of the every-down back and keep LW as the change-of-pace. There's less upside than I would have expected before the season.

He's been my primary flex, but depending on matchups, I may switch to Collie or AGonzalez (when healthy) or Chester Taylor.

Leon is a tease. If you watch him each week side by side with TJ, he's clearly the better RB. He makes the big plays, he's the one they go to when they need a 3rd down so the thinking is that sooner or later the coaching staff will see that too and lean more on Washington. Whether that happens is TBD...

:lmao: He came out on fire Monday in the first half. I think he had 8 carries for close to 40+yds and the one catch. Then, nada in the 2nd half.I've had to start him as my flex the last 2 weeks and it hasn't killed me.I have to go with him this week again because of matchups and hoping for a good game against the Bills.

So far he hasn't had the kind of games I was hoping for, but I'm holding because of the better match-ups like this week when my starters are on a bye. Even though his numbers so far may be comparable to guys you can pick up on the waiver wire, very few of those guys have his big play ability, so I think he makes an excellent gamble when he plays the likes of Buffalo.

I have him for my flex most weeks too and I thought he was going to be perfect for that role.....someone who'll get around 60-80 total yards a weeks with a few explosive games here and there which would help me get the win that specific week. He just has to break a few every now and then, something he hasn't done yet. I'm hoping this week is the week because I could use it.

I have thought about dropping him for Mike Bell but I'm just afraid that right after I do he will get more involved.

I don't know that I'd drop him just yet. His schedule is about to get plenty easy. As for me he's in my lineup by default.

they're not throwing to him near enough. until that changes, i don't think he's startable.
That's it in a nutshell. When you get removed in goal line formations and barely crack 10 carries a game there is only one way to be a consistent fantasy producer and that's to catch a lot of balls in a PPR format. Felix Jones, if he ever could stay healthy, is one rare instance I can think off for a RB who does not catch a lot of passes and does not get goal line carries who could be start able the type of workload Leon is getting and even than he's barely worth a start and that's averaging about 9 yards a carry. I'm ashamed to say I was very high on Leon heading into the year and had him rated as high as my #17th ranked RB in PPR leagues. I never felt he would get the 300 touches Ryan spoke of but I envisioned his usage to grow along the same lines of that as a Tiki Barber were after a few years in the league Tiki started to get 10-12 carries and 4-5 catches a game ,which would put Leon around 240 touches on the year give or take. I based his spike in receptions on what I expected to be increased playing time and a rookie QB who I thought would be inclined to dump it off. As it is his fantasy numbers are down from last year despite the increased touches and will remain down until he starts getting the ball thrown to him with more frequency.

Leon is definately a matchup player at this time. With games against Buffalo and Oakland, I will be starting him alongside Thomas Jones. He has that burst and against lesser run defenses his chances increase to make a big run or two.
