The worst part of the NFL schedule -- the dead period between June OTAs and training camp -- is about to end.

What single most vexing question are you itching to have answered during camp?

For purely selfish reasons in 32 teamer ... does Eddie Moore start at SLB for Den?

:bag:

I need the LB help ...

ETA: I also want Lehman to win the battle with Lenon/Baldwin ...

how will the LB position in NE shake out?

i know a bunch of people think Adalius Thomas is gonna man an ILB spot in that 3/4 but I just dont see it, at least not for the majority of snaps that he plays

Will Detroit keep Kenoy Kennedy or give the starting strong safety spot over to Daniel Bullocks?

Who wins the starting free safety spot in Pittsburgh, Ryan Clark or Anthony Smith?

Do either of Kansas City's 2nd year safties, Pollard or Page, hit elite status?

Does Marcus McCauley steal a job away from Griffin this year?

Does Patrick Willis get a full-time starting job?
I'll field this: yes. Willis is already the best LB on that team and was as soon as he was drafted. Will Nate Clements be a force in SF?is Roman Harper fully recovered and ready to shine? Can Bob Sanders play a full season? Will the departure of Clements make Whitner a top-10 DB?Will Asante Samuel's contract beef affect his play?

How will the Ahmad Brooks/Odell Thurman tandem shake out? Will Odell be WLB if he is reinstated and will be succeed there?

Good question...and the Thurman part actually could be rephrased to ask whether or not he will get a legit chance to compete for a starting job, because if he does, he should start somewhere, and I would guess WLB because they seem to like Brooks.

That is very true. One story did sound like he would be invited to camp and be allowed to work his way up. Hartwell sure isn't the answer long term.

At this time last year, we were discussing the likelihood Cincy would convert to 3-4. If that happens maybe both Thurman and Brooks are the inside guys.

Would Underwood or Rouse winning the open safety position make Nick Collins a starting DB in most IDP formats?

Would Manual winning the position drop Green Bay from a DEF sleeper?

I'm concerned about the coaching too. The team is talented on defense and late in the season were outcoached.Rouse is intruiging. A 6'4 safety?

I am pretty confident that KC will play a lot of left/right instead of sam/will with Edwards and Johnson and that Johnson will spend more than his fair share of time covering the TE ...

ETA: I am saying that DJ will not be any strewtch be a cover 2 will IMHO ...

Rotoworld draft Guide+Sports Grumblings+IDP Blitz all report that Donnie to strictly play Strongside and leave Derrick to wreak havoc on the weakside. all agree that he won't go crazy in the tackle column with the additions of donnie and napoleon but he should see somewhat of a increase in tackles and a big bump in playmaking stats.

this is the info from IDP blitz:

Derrick Johnson - When Johnson came out of college, there was every indication that he could be a standout fantasy IDP. However, his results have been very average: less than 5 solo tackles per game and 6.5 sacks in 2 seasons. Most surprisingly, the career INT leader among Texas Longhorns LBs has yet to pick off a pass in the pros. Expect Johnson to bust out in '07, as he finally returns to his natural position, WLB. Yes, the Chiefs buried Johnson's talents head-butting TEs at SLB. Look for Johnson to produce more big plays (sacks, INTs) and more tackles with his newfound freedom to operate in space in the Cover-2. He'll become a sure fantasy starter and maybe much more. P.S. - Don't underestimate Edwards' impact on Johnson. HC Herm Edwards is outspoken that he expects Johnson to soak up knowledge from Donnie Edwards.

this is the info from rotoworld draft guide

2006: He was having a productive second season (with all 4.5 of his sacks coming previous to Week 9) before an ankle injury sidelined him for a month.

What’s Changed: Johnson will have new teammates starting with him behind the line; Napoleon Harris will play in the middle, while Donnie Edwards will man the strong side.

Outlook: The upgrades at LB, especially Edwards, should prevent Johnson from becoming a top-tier fantasy option. Still, he has proven to be capable of making plays.

if just by chance this happens, what is Derrick's ceiling?

IF that happened, Johnson would be a much better IDP player. I don't believe this will really be the case though because Edwards would be a poor fit at SLB. He isn't great at shedding blockers, he isn't especially big or strong, and he operates a lot better in space.

Who walks away with the starting job opposite Peppers ?
:football: Sleeper value here if it isn't Rucker. Johnson is young and may need some time, but he did pretty well last year at UGA with Moses taking some of the attention away from him like Peppers certainly would do in CAR.

Monday, July 23, 2007Thurman decision today?Though agent Safarrah Lawson said just minutes ago that he has heard nothing from the league about the possible resinstatement of client Odell Thurman -- "The silence has been defeaning," Lawson said -- sources inside the Bengals organization anticipate that today could be the day when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sends word of his decision. It would start with a call from the commissioner to team president Mike Brown and coach Marvin Lewis. Also, the club expects to announce no signings today of any of its draft picks.Players report Thursday. The first training camp practice is Friday at 3 p.m.

For purely selfish reasons in 32 teamer ... does Eddie Moore start at SLB for Den?

:excited:

I need the LB help ...

ETA: I also want Lehman to win the battle with Lenon/Baldwin ...
From Rotoworld:Lions LB Teddy Lehman left Tuesday's morning workout with a shoulder injury and will undergo an MRI, according to the Associated Press.

Lehman, who has worked at both outside and middle linebacker as a backup, is frequently injured. His status for the rest of camp is uncertain.

Also, Eddie Moore was released after failing a physical. It was on the ticker on NFL network. I don't have a link but you can probably google it.

Not looking good for you LB corps.
