Let's talk about keepers 2016 (1 Viewer)

this thread is not to be confused with the 2015 who should I keep this year thread. This is the who can I snag for a min auction bid or a bench round pick this year and keep in 2016.

Case in point someone is keeping Kris Bryant this year in my Legg for $1 and will be a multi year keeper because he thought ahead in last years draft.

3 good picks here. Speaking of Yu, I got Josh Fernandez in my sights.

Any other kids? Think Buxton will be ready in 16?

Yeah, I'm holding Buxton @ $2 in an auction this year. I think he'll possibly be up at some point this year, don't think Hicksy has what it takes.

Late in the year you should snag Julio Urias off waivers. He's going to be awesome when his time comes but very young.

I don't love keeping pitchers or catchers to stash for only a year out because they are typically less predictable and/or take a bit longer to hit their strides. But there seem to be a few obvious guys that should get enough of a look in-season that they would be prime keepers for 2016. Here's who I'm looking at:

Addison Russell

Maikel Franco

Miguel Sano

Corey Seager

Few "prospects" are obvious draft picks (Bryant, Soler). Few other ones will probably be drafted or at least given a look by the rest of your league (Rodon, Pompey, Michael Taylor, Souza, etc) depending on what happens the rest of the spring with their job status. If you ARE looking at Ps and Cs to make an impact, the guys like Taillon and Swihart who are close to the majors are better bets IMO than guys like Giolito or Urias, if we're talking 2016 value only.

Carlos Correa

Kid is a STUD. Might be up late this year.
I've got my draft for my 12 team / keep 12 today. Correa is out there to be drafted... Trying to figure out when to grab him - Bryant and Buxton and a couple of others were held (Sano and Pederson I believe). I think maybe 4/5 rounds in Ill splash with Correa. If I miss, maybe Addison or Moncada.Edit: actually probably not Moncada - in a keep 12, no point in keeping someone that far away from the show.

He definitely appears to be more talented than any of the guys I mentioned. I just feel like he's a little further out. Still only 20 years old and missed half of last year with a broken leg. But yeah if he gets a call-up at all, then he'd surely be in line for big things in '16.

This is a bit different, but where would you take Yu? We have two IR spots and be got thrown back.
with just two ir's, let him go. Unless you have a deep bench you're gonna need those spots.

We had our draft tonight and I dropped pick 283 on him. I'll see about carrying him all year, but if I need to throw him back it's no big loss. A more likely scenario is I package him and another player to a floundering team for a better player.

Maybe like Alex Cobb and Yu for someone like Grienke.

Drew Hutchinson.
Interesting mention.
What's your thoughts? I like the high K rates, a little wild but if he can gather some control he could be a good one. Prior injury concern but I'm targeting him early in my AL only.
I can't get beyond his homers.
2 year our from his TJ after last seasons showing , I'm all in on Hutch.

But from here on out from the Blue Jay's I'd rather Norris . He is going to be special

I'm in semi-rebuild mode and grabbed them both. Hoping one hits, let's go for both.
