Let's talk about some Tony Romo. (1 Viewer)

I've gotta be honest with ya folks, I'm a believer in this kid Romo. If you watched the game against Carolina, it was like nothing rattled this kid. It was not like he had any pressure on him to save the season for the Cowboys. It was not like he had any pressure on him b/c it was a Sunday Night game in Primetime. For his first start, Romo made some good decisions, had some nice passes, and showed great pocket presence. The guy knows when he needs to bail, and he's faster than I think people originally thought. Some people are saying Parcells REALLY wanted to start this kid at the beginning of the year, but they did not want to disappoint Bledsoe. He's a completely different type of QB than Bledsoe, and I think he's better suited for this offence. Romo inherits some serious weapons in T.O., Glenn, Witten, JJ, and MBIII. His upcoming scheudle includes games like @WASH, @AZ, TB, @NYG, NO.

All of these teams can definately be passed on, and I see the Cowboys making the playoffs. Thoughts??

As Parcells likes to say.....It's a little early to put him Canton.

IMO....He looked pretty darn good, but there will be ups and downs.

Romo looked pretty good to me that past game, but the jury is still out. His mobility is a big plus from a FF perspective if your league favors rushing yardage.

In one of my leagues...we draft a team QB, meaning we own rights to our starters backups. When I developed my draft strategy, I purposely targetted Bledsoe and Plummer. My logic was that I thought that both were undervalued going into the draft...and...I thought that Romo and Cutler had a very good chance of being productive in those offenses.

Bledsoe had not been so bad that he cost me games....but he was not really helping me much either.

So, I was happy when the switch was made. I had some reservations about starting Romo on Sunday, as it appeared to me that the offensive line had taken a big step backwards the previous week.

But...after watching him Sunday, I'm much less concerned. As lboy points out...Romo seems to simply have a very even keeled feel for the game. He doesn't get too excited...and he doesn't get conservative when he makes a mistake.

The one fear I have is a bad case of Terrellitus, which has killed some pretty good seasons in the past.

I did think that Romo looked dang good on sunday night in prime time. He dealt with the pressure very nice.

The question is though whether or not you think the Cowboys will stick with him past this year?? Is he the franchise qb for 5-7 years? Or will they draft someone to be their future franchise QB.

Real deal, as in Brady-taking-over-for-Bledsoe real deal? No.

Real deal, as in competent 2nd-tier bye-week QB? Absolutely.
 So after one game you can already tell he won't be as good as Brady?

After Brady's first game could you tell that Brady would be as good as he is today?

He's got an interesting impromptu style. That, plus his 3/4 delivery and his mobility reminds me a lot of Rich Gannon (comparing style rather than quality at this early date, of course).

I like that he thinks on his feet and is clearly scanning the field and making reads. I think the future is promising for him, and of course QB's that can scramble for yards a few times a game can be fantasy gold.

He's a cross between Joe Namath and Roman Gabriel and will be the #1 fantasy QB going forward. Mark it down!!
My sarcasm detector is having trouble with this one. You're not serious, are you?

So far he did ok..since he did not play alot in the past..he's not a KID..has 4 years in the pro's and almost 27..Curtis Martin is only 7 years older...and ready to retire! :banned:

i like romo...

he has a very compact, economical delivery and quick release & ball gets out of his hand in a hurry...

he also appears to have outstanding accuracy, specifically he also has great timing hitting WRs out of their breaks (accuracy & timing are almost innate... at this level, you sort of have them or you don't, & very difficult to "coach up" even with drills spent on footwork, mechanics, consistent release, etc.)...

his mobility & elusiveness & ability to buy time fit like glove with OL problems... he runs when things break down, but he looks to pass first... seems very poised & composed & cool under fire... seems to be having fun & like game isn't too big for him...

there is a lot to like about him...

the bonus is, with weapons like TO, glenn & witten, & very solid 1-2 RB punch in JJ & barber, he could put up some surprising numbers... i mean REALLY surprising, & have huge upside...

i consider myself very fortunate to have scooped him up in a few dynasty leagues earlier this year...

* gotta like fact that bledsoe was able to involve TO sporadically & witten not at all, & romo had them heavily involved in his very first start... if he can just distribute the ball & get it to his playmakers he could shock some people with the kind of numbers he could prove capable of putting up...

like i said elsewhere, in one league where i just prorated first start X 7 = #3 QB in that scoring system, behind only manning & mcnabb... & he only threw 1 TD this week... the rushing yards could give him a nice boost...

the 2 point conversion was nice example of how he had the agility to feint a run, quick stop & hit TO in stride... that was very decisive & the kind of play bledsoe probably too ponderous to make...

The last "mark it down" I saw was the guy touting the Niners to beat the Bears.

I dropped Leinart to keep Romo. Sticking with Kitna though for now.
I'm considering dropping Leinart for Romo too. But then I remember how great Leinart looked his first game and how he has played since. I don't have to decide until Friday so I'm still mulling it over. I didn't get to see Sunday nights game so I'm at a disadvantage here.I was one of the guys that waited on a QB and because of that I've been scrambling for QB's all season - usually with pretty crappy results. Won't make that same mistake next year.Willie

speaking of "terrellitus"...did anyone else notice a different sideline terrell? i didn't see, (or maybe the network didn't show) all the usual antics on the sideline...i saw him talking with Romo, and seeming to be a supportive team mate...could be because of the 9 receptions though.sorry to "hijack:...back to all Romo all the time..he sure looked comfortable out there

Seems to me Terrell was right. Seems now Bledsoe may have been playing politics with the football (seeing how Romo was able to spread it around.......).
