Lets talk John Kitna and the Lion offense (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
The Lions have added Tatum Bell and TJ Duckett at RB, and Kevin Jones will return halfway through the season.

Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson with Mike (90 catches) Furrey in the slot.

Red zone package of Roy Williams, CJ and Marcus Robinson. All huge WRs.

A lousy defense..that is the key for FF players. The Lions will have to score.

The pass happy Mad Doctor Martz calling the plays. This offense has the makings of something special.

Kitna threw for 4K last year.

:lmao: If the Lions keep CJ I see Kitna being a Top-5 fantasy QB this year.

If my Lions keep Johnson (and I HOPE they do!), then I could certainly see Kitna being a top 5-7 QB, and that offense doing very well. Your reasons given are exactly why -- the defense isn't great, so they will be forced to throw up some points to keep up...

Just an FYI but Pollard is in Seattle.

poor Calvin Johnson....if he stays in Detroit he'll automatically be a bust..

see Charles Rogers....see Mike Williams....

the Lions amaze me with their aweful drafting...

Mike Williams was a reach, and brought in to do the wast coast. Charles Rogers had a few great ears before he got injured on ####ed up on coke/weed. Must've been hanging out with Jeff Smoker or something.wht about roy williams, and mike furrey... genius.I love people who watch a nfl primetime draft preview and think they know football.

yep, the same Kitna that passed for 4200 yards last year with Mike Furrey as his #2 WR.

Kitna is money this year, and since they didn't draft a QB in the 1st round, he is probably money next year too. Kitna has got to be considered a top5 candidate with some of the things LHucks and Guru highlighted. Put on your tuxedos boys.

21 TDs22 INTs

Teams will have to double Williams & Johnson, should open up things underneath for Furrey & Bell out of the backfield.

give up this years #2 and Next years #2 fro quinn and the lions are set...

get defense in the FA market...

What do you lose for the INTs? 1 fantasy point?I don't think anyone's saying the Lions are gonna win more than 3 or 4 games. They will quite likely be the worst defensive team in the league, if not NFL history. But Jon Kitna was a good fantasy option last year, and the Lions have improved just about every aspect of their offense.

too many ints
we're talking fantasy here, not wins/losses.
you lose points for ints in my league. personally, i like my qb to throw more TDs than INTs, particularly when they don't throw a high number of TDs.
What do you consider a high number? Kitna was ninth in the league in TDs and that number should only go up this year.
More than 21. If I had to nail down a number, maybe 27 or 28. You think 21 is a high number of TDs?I agree his numbers should go up this year, for TD passes at least, but he just throws soo many picks. That doesn't stop him from being a good option, but IMO it stops him from being up there with guys like Palmer and Mcnabb, like someone suggested earlier.

okay, Peyton Manning the best QB in all of the land had how many last year?
9. Your point is :whoosh:
oh boy...

Care to explain? You said it like Manning threw 20 picks. He threw less than half of Kitna's picks while throwing 10 more TDs. I don't get what you were trying to say. If you want your starting QB to throw more INTs than TDs, be my guest. You're welcome in my league any time. :excited: Maybe you'd like your RB to have more fumbles than TDs too?

Lets make one thing clear. I am not saying the Lions will be a good team.

If all things hold up though, they could be very explosive on the offensive side of the ball.

Of course Kitna will still throw some boneheaded picks, but his upside is huge.

The only problem is that he will not be a steal this year.

I liked Jon Kitna as a sleeper last year, much to the amusement of some of my leaguemates. Now I'm in a position, with CalvinJ added to the mix, where I may seriously consider keeping Kitna instead of Donovan Mcnabb.

There's no reason Kitna could not crack top 5 this year.

Those will most likely go down. The majority of Kitna's ints last year were the WRs fault.

Kitna will throw 25+ TDs next year.

Weren't people saying similar things around this time last year about Kurt Warner & Drew Bledsoe?

Not saying Kitna can't be great, and he was good last year, but most WRs go through an adjustment period their rookie year. Boldin, Randy Moss & Colston are exceptions - Calvin could bust out, but he may take a year or two to dominate.

With Kitna's poor interception ratio I expect him to be pulled early for Dan Orlovsky who will become this year's surprise QB...Stanton is far too raw and mechanically unsound to play this year. It will be Orlovsky that finishes this year.

Kitna will be entering the 2nd year in a Mike Martz passathon offense, and he'll have Calvin Johnson added to his target list.

Will he be better or worse than last year, when he was top 8? (he was #6 in my league, where we give 5 pt per TD pass and -2 per turnover)

I'm thinking he will be better.

I don't think he'll necessarily break top 5, but only because there are guys that finished behind him last year that will be in the mix. So, the top 5 will have higher fantasy points than last year's top 5. But kitna is a near lock for top 10, barring injury.

Manning, Brees, Bulger, Vick, Palmer all finished above him, and Brady, Rivers, Favre, McNabb, Young, and Hasselbeck all could potentially pass him.

If anything I think CJ will boost Roy Williams into the top5. How can any team triple cover him anymore? CJ is guaranteed to do a lot more than Furrey did last year if they are allowed to forcefeed him 90 catches..

kitna as a top 5 qb....laf....as much as i liked him last year as he helped me win a few games....

good luck with him as your #1 qb....Roy and Calvin no matter..

some people put way to much into WR rookies...there aren't many Mosses in the world...CJ isn't a Moss....
