KFFL - Updating previous report, Doctors are expecting Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (foot) to miss six to eight weeks because of a Lisfranc injury. The hope is that rest will allow Bell to play this season.

UH OH

Where does this drop him in terms of Dynasty even? Isn't Lisfranc a very serious injury long term as well?

Dwyer? Redman?

I picked Dwyer off of waivers but the entire Pit running game looks like a train wreck.

Really neither. I mean, you can never have enough RBs so I suppose stashing Dwyer is fine but it will be a RBBC. PIT doesn't want to lean on Dwyer or Redman.

Bump McGahee or Wells if either is healthy right now. I can't imagine the steelers sit on this RB group.
There is 0 chance they pick up either.
I know the Steelers never sign FAs but they know Dwyer and Redman are both avg on their best day... it would be foolish for them to not even consider bringing Wells back in for another tire kick.

Did Wells ever pass a physical?

Why would it be foolish? They already did not like what they saw and it's not like Wells has an impressive resume. He was only due about $1.5 million by the Cardinals this year and they cut him and opted to pay a RB the Steelers no longer wanted at least $1million more.

Last year Dwyer averaged 4ypc on twice as many carries as Wells who averaged 2.7ypc. Redman averaged 3.7ypc. They both have career ypc at or above 4. They are no worse than Wells. That's not the only reason they won't sign these guys though. They're set. They likely will release one rb (not including the camp/practice fodder), probably Batch, to get down to 53.

I'm staying away from the Steelers. Antonio Brown only if the price is right, and Sanders very late. That's it. Not even considering anybody else.

Honestly besides Roethlisberger, there is no one else who deserves consideration. With the RB game #### hitting the fan, Ben might be the guy to bump the most, even with the OL concerns.

The Steelers could be out with Le'Veon Bell, their projected starting running back, for considerably longer than expected.

Bell has a rare midfoot sprain that's being classified as a Lisfranc injury, a source told the Tribune-Review on Wednesday morning, and the team is now hoping to have him return in about a month.

As recently as last week, Bell had expressed hope of returning for the next game in Cincinnati, but coach Mike Tomlin offered no update of any kind in his Tuesday news conference.

Bell, the highly touted second-rounder out of Michigan State, was hurt in an Aug. 19 preseason game in Washington.

I thought they said Bell did not have a LisFranc, that's gonna blow because bell was thought by some outlets to be able to creep back around week 3-4, he wasn't put on the PUP, his stock dropped but then settled in the 8th-11th rounds, this is gonna suck if he lands on IR.

The Steelers have no running game, none. We don't know if they ever did with him anyways but it looks bleak right now. And the passing game has no speed at the moment. The Steelers might be picking top5 next year, that's scary.

Yes, they did. I have no clue whats going on.

If he actually does have a Lisfranc, as bad as the PIT running game is, I still might drop Hillman for Dwyer.

Dateline August 21: Bell to miss six to eight weeks. Meaning that he could return around mid-October.

Dateline September 11: Bell to miss about a month. Meaning that he could return...around mid October.

In a deep league where I need RB help I've been pondering what % of my budget to blow on Dwyer. Here's my line of thinking..

LSH - blown out his knee, out of the equation

Felix - unfamiliar with system, blew blitz pick-ups, sketchy track record regardless

Redman - PIT thought they knew what they had in Redman (didn't play all preseason) when they decided to release Dwyer and they were dead wrong

Bell - Lisfrac = chance he's no-go for 2013 season

Dwyer has always, at the very least, been a servicable RB. I personally he looked really good at times last year and good this year during the preseason. My biggest problem is the overall bleak outlook on PIT this year. Even if the stars align and Dwyer ends up getting 15-20 touches a game his upside will be capped by PIT. Still, opportunity is opportunity.

They don't like Dwyer. He's lazy, doesn't work hard, and has not significantly improved in those areas since he arrived in Pittsburgh. They re-signed him, not because they suddenly realized Redman was not good, but because LSH got hurt (and perhaps they realized Bell's injury was going to take longer to rehab from). That being said, he will likely get some opportunities until Bell returns, but I don't know ifhe'll get 15-20 touches/game, especially if Pitt is down a lot. Dwyer doesnt' catch many balls.
