Life can seem pointless at times. (1 Viewer)

This is a spin off from my thread about my pet. First, Let me start with life is great but lots of times life sucks and is not easy. I was thinking about it. Every friend you have made, every pet you have loved will always die in the end. As will you too. It just seems unfair. Why do humans have such a conscious to always know what is going on..it brings lots of pain. A friend ( my dog ) you have had since you were less than 10 years old..to watch them fade away is a painful process. Nothing you can do to prevent it.

"What the hell are hearts for when the only thing they feel is the pain and shame left inside."

I do not know many of you, so I do not know how this thread will go.

Not all that wander are lost?

And prostitutes. I at least know that if I am ever feeling so down, that I don't want to live anymore, there is a place called Bunny Ranch that can save me.

Wait until you bury a parent. I did this year and it sucks. I just can't seem to wrap me my head around it.

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone

All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity

Dust in the wind

All they are is dust in the wind

Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea

All we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

Oh, ho, ho

Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky

It slips away

And all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

All we are is dust in the wind

Dust in the wind

Everything is dust in the wind

Everything is dust in the wind

The wind

Facebook is good at keeping people from thinking about things like this.

I couldn't even imagine losing a child especially a young one. Losing my dog was brutal. I don't think losing a parent will be that bad. They're kind of pitas.

The point is curiosity. Everything boils down to curiosity at the end. Why do we love to learn? Curiosity. Why do people want to live forever? So they can find out what happens later. Why do people love children? Because they're nakedly curious. And also because they want to see how this kid grows up. Why do we love to travel? Because you want to see what's out there. Why do people fall in love? Because they're curious about each other and whether someone else could love them despite their flaws.

You only get enough time to satisfy a tiny fraction of your curiosity. The choices you make define you. If you're curious which horse will win this race or which team will win this weekend or which singer will be the next american whatever, then good for you. But the really interesting people are the ones who follow their curiosity down a path that's too hard for others to follow. The ones who figure things out and share it with the rest of us. The inventors, the philosophers, the artists and poets, the scientists... the people who find new things for the rest of us. Because we are all not only individually curious, but part of the collective of humanity, and humanity remains endlessly curious long after each of us meets our individual ends.

Contribute to the satisfaction of the curiosity of the human race, and don't worry that your contributing in a very small way, because all of our contributions are small when viewed individually. That's the point of all of this, and you will be a part of it no matter which choices you make in life. Live in a way that you'll be proud of the choices you made.

You only become better through challenge, adversity, loss, etc.

Many times when these things happen, you don't think you're strong enough to deal with it. But then you do, because you have to, and new chapters in your life happen, and you smile again. And you look back and you're like wow, I'm tougher than I thought. And you learn things like gratitude, perspective, humility, etc. It's all positive if you just learn to accept it.

I'm sorry for your loss. And I'm incredibly, incredibly stoned tonight.

Life is a gift. That's why all we have is the present. Something like that. Be thankful for every moment and every memory. That's all any of us can do. It will get better.

Love generously and ask the Lord to help you find purpose in suffering. Sacrificial love is the point.

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

I don't want to be a loser saying I'm going to do something. I'm going to do something so the impact I make when I die is just as profound on the lives of every American as your dog's death was to you.

I've got a wonderful dog about to to turn 16. We shower him with affection. I dread the day of what you're going through now. I love this son of a #####.

I do think there is a God and if you ask him for things, he will deliver. As long you're acting in good faith.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

As they say.. Time heals..

It took me about a month to get over having to put our Mutt Marty down.. One of the happiest and friendliest dogs I've ever had.. every time I walked by a photo or the painting my wife made of him I'd get just a tad bit misty eyed :(

Although 6 months later he is still missed, it is easier to look at photos of him and remember the good times and not be ready to lose it.. Just know it will get better

I'm sure you have the best intentions, but that's creepy.

My dog died a slow terrible death not too long ago, probably because I was too timid to put her down. Anyways, take pride and feel good about in how you care for her or him in the end. That is the best you can do, so do it well. There is nothing pointless about that. Plus think of all the good times. Again, pointless is not the adjective you probably would use to describe all of that time in your life. Our hearts are meant to suffer and to feel, take ownership of that. Let it shape who you are.

Nothing is permanent so don't waste time doing things that don't matter to you.

This thread could be named Life is a Motivational Poster

We are owed nothing on this earth.

Fairness was never the issue.

Do what you can, don't cry about what you cant.

etc

I disagree with your basic premise. Science will eventually defeat death, and hopefully within our lifetimes.

Also, you should google quantum resurrection. Information is never destroyed, theoretically some advanced society of the future could bring you and your pet back.

I think the first part is likely within the near future. The second part, not sure, I'm not a physicist.
