The NFL Matrix League, now in its third season, uses advanced mathematics (essentially matrix multiplication and optimization methods) on historical weekly data compiled over several seasons to determine the coefficients for scoring categories. This system tends to reward high performers more on a per play basis than just sheer volume. Average and 95th percentile weekly values are determined for QBs, RBs, WR/TEs, and D/STs. More attention is paid to the valuation of positions based on real football rather than traditional fantasy football. Below are the values being used this season:
Position (Average, 95th percentile)
D/ST (40, 80)
QB (35, 60)
RB (12, 30)
WR/TE (10, 25)
This means, for example, that an average QB performance should generate an expected value of about 35 points per week. An elite (95th percentile) QB performance should generate 60+ points per week.
There are a few more methods to the madness included but not mentioned above. Feel free to inquire! This league is free and intended to just be a fun, free exercise for those looking for a change to the same old fantasy football experience.
