Lineup Makeover - Pick a MLB lineup and reorder it (1 Viewer)

I've always thought it was a waste to have Sizemore leading off. Here's my revide order

1. Cabrera 2b

2. Sizemore cf

3. Martinez 1b

4. Shoo - lf

5. Hafner DH

6 Garko rf

7 Peralta SS

8 Shoppach C

9 DeRosa 3b

I'd rather have Sizemore 3rd, but aftrecthe 1st inning he'll have AC, derosa and Shoppach to set the table for him, and AC won't clog the bases

St Louis' lineup is decent the way it is...however if I had to tweak it I'd move Ankiel down in the lineup and play the hot hand between Barden and Thurston at 3B.

Right now they have Ankiel in the 5 hole and he gives no protection to Ludwick. When Duncan plays, I'd hit him in the 5 hole, move Barden/Thurston to the 2 hole.

The problem with Ankiel and Greene at 7/8 is that could be a lot of stranded runners when they are in a funk.

LaRussa's "pitcher hitting 8th" shtick has actually been proven to be +EV, crazily enough.I won't even start with the A's. Safe to say, it doesn't involve Cust hitting 6th-7th.

Sizemore's superior OBP makes him a better leadoff candidate than Cabrera. His base running skills are icing on the cake. With the DH, there's less downside in putting a RBI guy in the leadoff slot. This tool calculates expected runs scored per game based on OBP/SLG of a batting order. It doesn't include less tangible attributes like lefty/right splits, moving the runner over, taking pitches, etc. but it suggests teams are better off stacking the top of the order to maximize ABs for the productive hitters.

second seems to be a really bad spot to place a good hitter. or at least a hitter who can do more than slap singles and has a good eye and plate discipline.

i wouldn't put sizemore second.

you want your no. 2 hitter to be someone who can take the ball the other way, someone who can work a count to 3-2 or 0-2 and not be afraid of the situation. you don't want to waste a power hitter there either.

Might want to start by acquiring some guys who can hit. When you have like 6 guys who can't hit starting every day, its hard to find ways to sprinkle them throughout the order.
