Lions Draft History Trivia (1 Viewer)

With the Lions being less than 24 hours away from their likely completion of a winless season, I thought I'd post this trivia question regarding the Lions' drafting of QBs. I'm certainly no fan of Millen, but the Lions' ineptitude was well established before he got there, he just took it to another level. (This post is my way of saying that maybe the Lions should draft a LT rather than a QB in the first.)

Here's the question:

Since 1977, the Lions have drafted 14 QBs, including a Heisman Trophy winner (Andre Ware) and three Heisman finalists (Joey Harrington, Rodney Peete, and Chuck Long). Of the 14 QBs drafted in that time, which QB won the most games for the Lions as a starting QB?

As a bonus, which QB had the best winning percentage?

Seems like a perfect question for Hipple, Long, Peete, and Ware

ETA: No idea on most wins, but I would guess Kramer for winning percentage.

Kramer wasn't drafted, so he was not included among the 14 QBs. His winning percentage was better than any of the 14, having had a 10-5 record as a starting QB for the Lions.)

I think that's the great Trojan Rodney Peete.
Rodney Peete did have the best winning percentage, what was it?
I'd have to look it up, but I think it was below .500
It was exactly .500. He was 3-3 as a starter. Just goes to show you how badly the Lions have drafted, even before Millen got there. I think the federal government should require the Fords to sell the Lions before Ford receives any bailout money.

To be fair the Lions have only drafted five QBs in the first or second round. The three first rounders were busts but three bad picks is hardly the most damning comment on the Detroit Lions.

I think the most damning stat on the Lions' draft history is that they've had 8 top 10 picks since 1997 and not one of them have been used on either the offensive or defensive line. Maybe that's a big reason why they keep on getting top 10 picks. But the fact that not ONE of the QBs drafted have had a winning percentage above .500 is pretty remarkable. Or the fact that they've drafted 1 Heisman Trophy winner and 3 finalists since 1986, and NONE of them have even remotely succeeded. You'd think that someday they'd succeed by accident.I wish that William Clay Ford understood that the NFL draft order isn't based on a lottery, and that it IS based on the previous season's success (or lack thereof).

Scott Mitchell for best winning %?
Mitchell was signed as a free agent, so he is not among the 14 QBs. He was 27-30 as a starter, so he wouldn't have had the most wins or the best winning percentage. The correct answer is Andre Ware with a 3-3 record. Previously, I put that it was Rodney Peete - but I had confused the two. Peete was 21-26 as a starter.
