Lions - intentionally trying to go 0-16 (1 Viewer)

Smells like chicken
The Lions have always made questionable moves but two this season have me thinking they really do want to go 0-16

Placing a healthy Jon Kitna and more recently a healthy Mike Furrey on IR for the season.

What gives here?

Trying to get the #1 pick for sure? Who could even save this sorry franchise?

LOL

Anybody that says they're losing on purpose hasn't watched them play. They are just that bad. The personnel decisions have always been bad so it's not like that just started.

Besides that, the draft next year appears to be thin at the top, and add in how overpaid the top draft picks are and the Lions would be better off winning a few games to get out of the top 3 picks.

Trust me, they actually are TRYING to win. They are devoid of any talent (except Calvin) or coaching ability.

I think they are just that bad. To bad the Cowboys couldn't have snagged Johnson from them instead of Williams.

Healthy is a matter of opinion. Furrey was still suffering effects from a concussion and Kitna had serious back problems. Both guys disagreed with being IR'd, but it's not uncommon for athletes to know the least about what is best for them and their health.

If Kitna played the whole season though I think they might have pulled off a game or two.

Who puts healhty players on IR? isnt there something the Union should do? or does that even matter cause they are still getting paid?

They have two legit reasons to go 0-16:

1) Nobody remembers a team that goes 1-15.

2) At least if they go winless, they can't be worse next year...

They have a chance against the Vikes this weekend,(as long as Culpepper doesn't run out of the back of the endzone) but other than that we need an Owner who want's to win.

First of all, no one wants to go 0-and whatever. Second, they will get a great draft pick no matter what. They don't have to have the 1st pick to get better, but they will get it without going 0-16. In other words, they can try as hard as they want and still get the 1st pick

Detroit Lions 2008.

A team that will live in infamy as long as the NFL shall exist.

In a few years, team members will be getting together and drinking champagne every time the last winless team for the year, wins a game.

It's a sort of immortality, I guess.

 I doubt that. Players from the 0-14 Buccaneers from back in the day have always said they don't wish a winless season on anyone.

What if the Lions can go a few seasons without a W? If they keep losing like this, there will be a lot of pressure to keep that going...nobody will want to be responsible for ending the streak.

Those players I saw Thursday are not trying to lose.

Rod Marinelli is definitely not the type of coach that would intentionally tank it.

Front office? I guess it's possible, but I'd say it's highly unlikely. They've been making bad moves for years, why would this year be any different?

What if Greg Jennings drops the game winning TD pass week 16 and the Packers lose to Detroit at home for the 1st time in forever? What would get more coverage? H.K. talking down Jennings or the Packers failing miserably and losing at home to the Detroit Lions?
