-- McDonald to Visit Lions --

Sun Mar 4, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

The <>St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports free agent WR Shaun McDonald (Rams) has scheduled a trip Monday to Detroit, where former Rams HC Mike Martz is offensive coordinator.

It was clear during the regular season Martz couldnt find #3 or #4 receivers he liked, so he's gonna bring them all over from the rams.

I think there is very little chance the lions draft CJ.

Martz loves the small, quick receivers and regardless of CJ's straight speed I dont think he will have the quicks that Martz loves. Roy Williams even said something last year along the lines of--Im lucky because Im probably the only WR that Martz will ever want that is over 6 ft.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt that Shaum Mcdonald will the reason that the Lions don't draft Calvin Johnson. Good coaches have systems and player style that they prefer, but also understand that there are a percentage of players whose talent outweights that preference.

from beat writer Kowalski's blog:

McDonald visit means one of two thingsShaun McDonald, the St. Louis Rams receiver, is reportedly on his way to Detroit for a visit on Monday. If this is true, it means one of two things:-- The Lions are trying to put some pressure on Kevin Curtis to sign a contract. The implication is that if Curtis tries to break the bank, the Lions will simply go out and get another former Mike Martz disciple. After all, Mike Furrey caught 98 passes -- is it so difficult to believe McDonald couldn't prosper, too.-- The Lions want both Curtis and McDonald and that means that Lions equipment guys will soon be instructed to box up Mike Williams' belongings. Think about it. Martz is the offensive coordinator and he'll have Roy Williams and three of his former players -- Furrey, Curtis and McDonald. How much playing time do you figure Mike Williams is going to get? And, since he's not a return guy and not likely to be much help on special teams, the writing is on the wall.If Curtis signs and McDonald still comes to town -- whether he signs or not -- it means the Lions (or at least Martz) has already planned on life without Mike Williams.

I thought Williams was behaving and getting some decent playing time as the season closed out?

Martz is pathetic. He can't adapt to the WR's he has so he has to try and find WR's that fit his style. The tard doesn't even understand that Holt's and Bruce's don't just grow on trees. They are rare. Such a moron. He will be a loser wherever he goes. Had he not lucked into a team of Warner, Holt, Bruce and Faulk, he wouldn't even be an OC. One of the greatest WR prospects EVER is right there for him this year, but he doesn't 'fit' Martz WR mold. That's a good thing for CJ owners though. Last thing I want is Cj in Detroit. They already ruined BMW.

Unless you have photos of Martz force-feeding BMW Big Macs and doughnuts, I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree.
