There is nothing wrong with Jerry Porter. He basically did two things to draw Shells ire.
1. He decided to work out on his own during the off-season. And? So what? So did a lot of NFL players and Porter showed up in camp in awesome shape.
2. He openly criticized Shell and the Walsh. And? He was right. He said the team had a chance to bring in Martz but instead brought in a guy who had been running a B&B. Is anyone out there going to say he was wrong?

I'm a die hard Raider fan (bay area local) and I have not heard anything from Porter that is out of line. Porter is saying what every guy on the roster wants to say about the situation in Oakland. I really can't understand why the media has spun this into anti Porter shtick when they usually hate Al Davis.
So, do both of you think his actions on the sidelins, on national televion was not out of line? I ask because I saw that as purposefully disrupting the team and showing up the coaches/management.
I can't say for sure because I did not see it but it stands to reason that if he was truly trying to show up the team than a few of his teammates would not have come out in support of him this past week.
maybe you saw something I did not. But, what I read, a couple of players (both defensive), including Sapp, said that they could use Porter because of his talent. I did not read anything (from any player) that supported Porter or his actions. But, I could have missed what you are referring to. Do you have a link or quote handy?
We saw the same thing. When I said his teammates were supporting him I was referring to the fact Sapp and Cooper said he should be playing. Something I doubt they would do if in fact he was on the sideline rooting against them and laughing as the SF writer wrote yet no one else seemed to see. I saw no players either defense his sideline actions or no coach or player on that team allude to the fact that he did anything that needed defended.
I think this trade talk is overblown since the Raiders want Porter to give back the bonus money and want atleast one 1st round pick. Here are some news blurbs I was referring to (about attitude):
Raiders | No teams showing interest in J. Porter
Published Sun Sep 17 11:35:00 a.m. ET 2006
(KFFL) ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Oakland Raiders WR Jerry Porter still has permission to look for a trade. However, no one is showing an interest in trading for him. Head coach Art Shell has decided to keep him out until he either changes his attitude or an injury at the wide receiver position forces him into the lineup.
Porter wasn't cheering
Published Wed Sep 13 2:13:00 p.m. ET 2006
(Rotoworld) Jerry Porter said he "wasn't paying attention to the game" when seen pumping his fists on the sideline.
Impact: He was talking to few fans in the crowd. Maybe they asked him to pump his fists if he enjoyed torturing his fantasy football owners.
Porter didn't want to show up Monday Night
Published Tue Sep 12 9:09:00 p.m. ET 2006
(Rotoworld) NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that Jerry Porter asked NFLPA President Troy Vincent if he was required to show up to Oakland's game Monday.
Impact: Porter wanted to stay home when he found out he would be inactive for the game, but Vincent told him to go to the game. The Patriots rumors earlier Monday appear to be untrue and Porter is hurting his trade value with every moronic move.
Raiders | Porter cheers when quarterback sacked
Published Tue Sep 12 3:39:00 p.m. ET 2006
(KFFL) Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders WR Jerry Porter was seen laughing and pumping his fist when QB Aaron Brooks, his teammate, was sacked a seventh time by the San Diego Chargers Monday, Sept. 11. Porter was inactive for the game.
Raiders | Porter stuck in Oakland?
Published Sun Sep 10 10:15:00 a.m. ET 2006
(KFFL) Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post, reports Oakland Raiders WR Jerry Porter still wants out of Oakland, but it may not happen due to the Raiders demands for Porter. The Raiders, who were asking for two first-round picks for Porter, now will take one first-rounder. But they also want Porter, or the team that picks him up, to pay his $4 million signing bonus. None of that appears likely to happen. Head coach Art Shell could sit him frequently as an example, but that could hurt the team as much as Porter.
