Lions Release Bradford (1 Viewer)

Vote of cinfidence for Furrey? Sign that Mike Williams is out of the doghouse? Or a sign that they're looking to acquire another WR?

Wow...guy was hyped as the #2 there. And he was listed on the depth charts as the #2...no reason to think it wasn't happening. Wonder if NE will give hima call...I think they have all the mediocre WR they can handle right now but you never know.

The Patriots would certainly want a veteran with decent hands and straight line speed. That's the role they most need filled on offense.

It is possible that he might look better with someone other than Carr/Kitna throwing the ball. Brady sure does throw a nice spiral...gotta be easy for WR to look good playing with him.

Decent hands? Since when? Bradford totally sucks.

Player News

The Lions placed WR Scottie Vines on the Reserved/Physically Unable to Perform list, meaning that he cannot practice or play with the team until after Week 6. From there, the Lions will have 21 days to activate him, or shelve him for all of 2006.

(Updated 08/29/2006).

Injury Report

Groin - PUP. Out until at least Week 7 at N.Y. Jets

(Updated - 8/29/06)

Fantasy Analysis

Vines is not worth using in any Fantasy leagues at this point, even if he were ready to start the season on time. Look for Corey Bradford, Glenn Martinez and Mike Furrey to compete for his roster spot in Motown.

(Updated 08/29/2006).

Hope that helps Ahrn

Wow. Bradford sucked pretty bad, but to go from #2 to cut?

Furrey is obviously the #2 now. My guess would be #3 is Hakim, #4 is Drummond and #5 is Mike Williams. BMW was active against Green Bay, but didn't get on the field until they were desperate and going empty backfield at the end, so I'm guessing he's not in the plans anytime soon.

Braford and Gaffney suck in Hou, hyped in the pool as viable starters and WR2s, now on the street ...

It was not just David Carr ...

Kitna is not a bad QB by any means, there are certainly many QBs who are worse off than he is and I'm sure many would agree with me. As for Brady, Champ Bailey was definitely right in that he doesn't look the same at all. I watched him in 3 games this year and he hasn't looked the same at all since the beginning of the year when Buffalo was shutting him down. If I had to venture a guess it would have to be losing Branch, Givens etc.

Lions homers....Is this a vote of confidence in Shaun Bodiford? I know he's missed the first three games due to a knee injury, but I read the team was pretty high on him during preseason. He's still on the active roster I believe. I'm in a deep 30 man roster dynasty league, I'm thinking about picking him up.

as a lion fan the only thing that bradford ever did that impressed me was chase down terry fair on a kickoff return from behind when he was with the packers

does anyone remember that play, honestly it was like the darrell green vs dorsett and ben watson vs champ bailey highlights morphed into one

he was flying!

i think the staff is warming up to mike williams a little bit, there are finally reports out that he is working hard. probably not enough to start but enough to suit up and be a 4th

I may be wrong, but isn't this mostly a bump up for Az Hakim?

Martz seems to really like these ex-Rams better than Lions holdovers -- I believe he dumped Pinner for Arlen Harris in the preseason...

Bradford seems like a nice signing for any team in need of a WR3.

Arlen Harris had been cut weeks ago.LINKIf Shaun Bodiford is healthy, does he get the nod?

Bodiford is there as a special teams ace and possible return guy. He's not going to step into a significant role in the passing game. If Eddie Drummond continues to look as bad as he has then you might see him step in there.

M.Martz offense...with all those pass attempts by J.Kitna, does anyone else also see some decent numbers for M.Furrey going forward?

QFTI thought it was hilarious seeing Bradford being hyped like he was in the preseason. Doesn't matter that he fell into a "good" situation because he sucks.

Interesting theory on which WR picks up the slack for Bradford.

Hint: It's not BMW :bag
Where was the theory? This is all that link said::The Lions released wide receiver Corey Bradford and signed offensive tackle Blaine Saipaia on Wednesday.

Bradford signed with the Lions as a free agent in the off-season and entered the season as the starting wide receiver opposite Roy Williams. But he was replaced by Mike Furrey in the second game at Chicago. He caught three passes for 36 yards in the Lions’ first three games.

Saipaia, who played for offensive coordinator Mike Martz in St. Louis in 2004 and 2005, brings much-needed depth to a beaten-up line. Tackles Rex Tucker (knee) and Barry Stokes (hamstring) are battling injuries. Rookie Jonathan Scott started at right tackle Sunday against Green Bay.:

I see no theory
