Lions sign Mike Furrey (1 Viewer)

Good signing.

Here's hoping they get a legit #2 and push him to the slot where he belongs.

Kevin Curtis would be a great choice.

Killer, the detroit writer, reports that Furrey spoke this morning regarding his signing, and mentioned that he is very good friends with Kevin Curtis and is lobbying hard for him to come here. Also he said that Martz is staying.

What funny is that when PFT reported Furrey was close to signing last week, Killer openly refuted the report, saying Furrey was unlikely to sign before the FA period started. I hope hes right about Curtis though.

Now take Thomas or AP with the 1st rounder.
I like AD as a prospect, but would prefer Adams or Branch.Good signing, agreed on the idea of bringing Curtis in, although that seems more 2a/2b to me. I just don't want Detroit to overpay for him.

I think it is much too high for Adams or Branch here. Thomas or trading down is the best fit here IMO.Anywyas, a surprisingly good signing by the Lions.

Furrey, scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent, had 11 catches in the season finale Sunday to finish with 98, the most ever by a non-rookie following a season when he had no catches
What a bizzarre and relatively worthless stat.

I agree with Thomas FWIW, I just don't see Peterson as a need, and if the Lions want the most talented player, it's still Johnson.

Good signing.
Never say good signing with Matt Millen until we see the $ involved.Bringing Jeff Backus back was good. Making him a franchise player was horribly stupid. From what I've read, Cory Redding is about to be the next beneficiary of Millen stupidity.
Can you explain your Redding comment?
I think the implied is that they would give Redding the franchsie tag. I'm guessing that the idea is he could be signed for a lesser amount than the tag would call for, if used on him?

Yeah, I'm hearing rumblings that Redding may be franchised. I would hope it doesn't come to that.Like Backus, a good player, but we can't be paying these guys like they're Pro Bowlers.
