Lions trade Bly to Broncos (1 Viewer)

Interesting, how will it effect teh Draft - Det won't take Joe Thomas or Adrian Peterson - they probably Go QB or DL now

That noise you hear is Brian Calhouns value being :lmao:

Denvers defense looks much improved. I think more first downs for Cutler is good news.

So much for KJ's readiness for Week 1.
Disagree. Everything out of Detroit has been along the lines of "Detroit won't spend a high round pick on a RB. Love Jones, think he'll be back for Week 1. Will acquire a cheap veteran for insurance."Bell sure seems like an insurance policy to me.

The Bronco's have been rumored to be interested in Thomas Jones.........does this open the door for that move now??

Any chance Denver grabs a back in free agency rather than the draft? I would love to see Jamal lewis in that system.

By the way, this was from a blog with the Lions beat writer on Feb 11. Not still up on the blog, but it still up on the blogger:
There is an internet report that the Lions "now" believe they'll lose RB Kevin Jones for up to half of the 2007 season. The report makes it sound like there's been some new information about his Lisfranc injury, but that's not true. Jones remains in a boot, but has already started the early process of his rehabilitation. He is right on schedule to return for the start of training camp. The Lions are looking to acquire a veteran running back in free agency as insurance, but right now, every indication is that Jones will be back for the start of the season.
So there you go: T. Bell = Insurance

I don't see how this changes a whole lot, the Broncos won't have to use their relatively small cap space on a back or draft one with a high pick.

Just as likely they will pick one in the 3-4th round to compete with MB IMO :nerd:

Looks like Denver will be drafting a RB. Prepare to revise your mock drafts.
They should include them drafting a RB with the last name Bell. It's a common enough name that eventually Shanny will hit the lottery if he keeps getting RBs named Bell.Kyle Bell colorado state or George Bell from V Tech enter the draft?

Good stuff from the Broncos. They got rid of two guys they were basically done with anyways, and now have arguably the best cornerback tandem in the league.

Brady Quinn to the Lions.

Good trade for both teams.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Shanahananahan trade up for Marshawn Lynch.

Don't laugh, but don't be surprised if they take Johnson. Seriously. After he ran the 4.3 40 at the combine, a lot of whispers were heard around here.

Updated, working on the full monty now....

1. Oak - Russell

2. Detroit - QUinn

3. Cleveland - Peterson

4. Tampa - Johnson

5. Arizona - THomas

6. Washington - Adams

7. Minnesota - Ginn Jr.

8. Houston - Alan Branch

9. Miami - Okoye

10. Atlanta - Laron Landry

Is a trade for RB still possible?? I can see trading the bills for WM or TJ and atlanta. Then getting a back later in the draft and not with the 1st pick.

I put that in a Mock a while back and wouldn't be the least bit shocked if that's how it went down. That said, I think that they're going to need to address the long term QB situation sooner then later, if not with QUinn in rd 1 then perhaps w/ Stanton in rd 2.

Given the current roster, it wouldn't surprise me if they took CJ. In fact it would be the RIGHT move. But if they pick up Kevin Curtis like is rumored, then it would surprise me.

Turner to the Broncos
yeah, he's better than any RB outside of Peterson for the 1st rounder...and the 3rd rounder is nothing to a team that used a 3rd rounder on Clarett. The Burner to Denver

Anyone familar with George Foster ?

He was a first round pick

of the Broncos a few years ago.

Sounds like a solid trade for the Lions

if Foster can perform at OT.

Sweet.

Denver got the CB they needed and didn't give up a draft pick. Gave up a RT that was benched midseason (started again only after his replacement was injured, and had been mentioned as a possible cut) and a RB that was overvalued.

Great trade for Denver IMO. Bly and Champ...nice.

Why is nobody talking about Foster here? It's not like the trade was Bell for Bly straight up.
Good call. Denver homers, or anyone who knows linemen well, is this guy a difference maker? Not too familiar with this guy.
he had a disapointing year. IIRC, he was benched for performance reasons towards the end of the season. I think he's too big for what the Broncos are looking for in a lineman; I never understood why they drafted him so highly in the first place. From the Broncos perspective, they offloaded two players who had no real future with the club, for a pro-bowl CB.From the Lions perspective, they off loaded a high priced CB who didn't fit their system well and got depth and speed at RB, and a lineman who can do what they want him to do. In reality, it's not a bad move for Det either.

Foster was benched mid-season and only got his job back when Adam Meadows got hurt.
FWIW, I hate Foster. But IMO he will be a better RT at Detroit then in Denver. Denver's system required him to be mobile, and that is not something he can do to their standards. Detroits system doesn't require that so I think he will improve with them.

I think you're probably right. I can't see them drafting Joe Thomas now. Between Foster, Backus, and Jon Scott (who played well down the stretch), they aren't looking terrible at the position.
