Little Joey vs. the G-Men on MNF (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
POSITIVES:

- Manning should have no trouble scoring through the air on Atlanta, so the Falcons will need to keep pace.

- Joey has performed ***MUCH*** better at home than on the road so far this season.

NEGATIVES:

- Atlanta is without both starting tackles, so he may be running for his life all night.

- A poor start and it might be Leftwich's time again.

- He is Joey Harrington.

Is there any upside in Harrington as a bye-week starter? :wall:

With both starting tackles facing the Giants DEs? Not likely. They'll need to double Strahan as most team do and double the other side as well with a RB/TE. That doesn't leave you many options as a passer.

When they sacked McNabb 12 times, that tied an NFL record, yes?You seriously might see that record broken on Monday night. Those two replacement tackles must not be sleeping well.

I think Joey's success depends on well he starts out the game. If he plays well in the first couple of drives, I can see a very productive game from him. That being said, I think he'll have a hard time handling the pressure and the boo's will start to be overwhelming. IMO, if he struggles I do not think Petrino will hesistate to put in Hefty Lefty 2 (not the original, Lorenzen). I'd hate to receive a big goose-egg from my QB postion.

I'd rather take a zero than minus-4.

Harrington could do well.the Over is 44.5, and the ATS numbers favor betting the over.just means there should be a lot of scoring that will take place on Monday night.this is usually a let-down game for the Giants, coming off a couple of big wins..As Carl Banks says on WFAN , the Giants do not do well with prosperity, in other words, they seem to play at the level of their opponent, and in games they 'should' win, they usually struggle to find a way to win...it all means Atlanta will put some pts on the board, and perhaps this game is tied heading into the 4th quarter. I do think the Giants will win, but I don't think it'll be a blowout, they'll struggle for this victory.I think the Falcons will come to play in this game. This could be a 28-24 final score.

In the same thought line, does anyone think this could be Laurent Robinson's coming out party? MNF, against a "bend but dont break" secondary who plays loose with a decent lead, and the Falcons probably having to throw the ball A TON. Any thoughts on how the rookie might do, seeing as he has been involved in the passing game recently.

I don't disagree with the premise.

The Falcons D is better than some have let on. They gave Vince Young a hard time. Brooking and Abraham are pretty highly regarded and some debate whether their CB is one of the best or not. They're no slouches on D themselves.

The Falcons linemen are surprisingly quick and athletic, Osi commented this week how he was impressed with that when watching the tapes. A rookie and a G switching to T isn't that encouraging, no doubt. Mughelli and Alge will likely be helping. Alge's pretty good at blocking and Ovie is very very good.

I think Petrino just might knows what he's doing unlike some other college coaches to come into the pros. I don't think he has the best team but....

I don't like Kiwi at LBer very much. I don't much care for Kawika some weeks. I don't think they have a safety that can cover too too well. IF IF IF Petrino lets Alge go out for passes rather than block, he could destroy the Gmen. The 4 DE set seems to be (almost) only when it's 3rd and long so naturally I figure the Falcons will be trying to avoid that by running alot which they haven't been too good at this year or a gimme short completion on first down.

Everytime I count Warrick Dunn out the guy does very well.

It's one of those where it seems too easy to call this a blowout

Maybe I'm just rooting for a decent game

I wouldn't worry about Leadfoot Leftwich too much. #1)

He sucks.

#2)

If anything, he's even less mobile than Harrington & has that painfully slow wind up before delivering the pass. Neither are attributes a Coach wants his QB to have when facing a pass rushing sack happy Defense.

D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons QB Byron Leftwich (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 12, because of an injured left ankle. He is questionable for Week 6.
