You got one right. But Charles YPC this year isn't even in the top-100 single seasons for an RB with over 100 carries.well, this year one is chris johnson.i will say the other is jamaal charles.
Gonna go check 1984 in a bit to see if the previous ones were Eric Dickerson and former Saint Hokie Gajan. Gajan had one freakish 600-something yard season where he was around 6 ypc -- as a fullback, no less.Could maybe be Marcus Allen and Gajan ... gotta research. When was the last time two different RBs with over 100 carries finished the season within the current top-20 best seasons for YPC?
Who are the RBs this year? Who were they before?
'84 was the previous season, if you count Gajan - who was a FB, not an RB.When was the last time two RBs did it though?Gonna go check 1984 in a bit to see if the previous ones were Eric Dickerson and former Saint Hokie Gajan. EDIT: Yup -- it was Dickerson & Gajan in 1984.

Fullbacks might not be tailbacks or halfbacks, but they are running backs.switz said:'84 was the previous season, if you count Gajan - who was a FB, not an RB.
.Actually in 2007 Norwood, Peterson, Fred Taylor and Chester Taylor (in that order) all finished in the top-100 YPC seasons for RBs with over 100 carries, but ONLY Norwood finished in the top-20.Doug B said:2007 -- Jerious Norwood at 103/613/6.0, and Adrian Peterson at 238/1341/5.6?
Nope, didn't use that list. Here is the criteria-Switz, what's your definition for "the current top-20 best seasons for YPC"? See here to see why I am confused. Did you just take that list and strip off the non-tailbacks?
Oh ... you mean an individual season's top-20 ypc. Okay.Different leagues at the time, but Chargers' RB Keith Lincoln and Browns' RB (FB?) Jim Brown both had top-20 all-time YPC seasons in 1963.Nope, didn't use that list. Here is the criteria-Switz, what's your definition for "the current top-20 best seasons for YPC"? Be listed as an RB for your team (not TE, QB, WR, OT, DT, DB, LB, FB, etc.)
Have at least 100 carries in a season.
List all of those seasons by YPC descending.
What is the top 20 players?
Gajan and Dickerson would have counted if Gajan was a RB, not a FB. It was a really good guess!

Edited just to trim the quoteActually, Peterson finished #19 if you eliminate #2, #22 & #23 (Dan Fowler), #7 & #8 (Joe Perry), #9 (Gajan), #20 (Marion Motley), and #21 (Bill Osmanski) from the all-time NFL YPC list, since they all played fullback.link.Actually in 2007 Norwood, Peterson, Fred Taylor and Chester Taylor (in that order) all finished in the top-100 YPC seasons for RBs with over 100 carries, but ONLY Norwood finished in the top-20.Doug B said:2007 -- Jerious Norwood at 103/613/6.0, and Adrian Peterson at 238/1341/5.6?
I included the AFL, whose player stats I believe are included as NFL history. But we are living in some really incredible years for RBs.Actually, Peterson finished #19 if you eliminate #2, #22 & #23 (Dan Fowler), #7 & #8 (Joe Perry), #9 (Gajan), #20 (Marion Motley), and #21 (Bill Osmanski) from the all-time NFL YPC list, since they all played fullback.link.Actually in 2007 Norwood, Peterson, Fred Taylor and Chester Taylor (in that order) all finished in the top-100 YPC seasons for RBs with over 100 carries, but ONLY Norwood finished in the top-20.Doug B said:2007 -- Jerious Norwood at 103/613/6.0, and Adrian Peterson at 238/1341/5.6?
Gajan and Dickerson count. Technically a FB nowadays is pretty much listed as an RB, but it wasn't always that way.
I'll blame it on pro-football-reference![]()
Gajan's 1984 is one of those only-homers-know seasons.Yes, they did as well.... On a totally different, but interesting note. Did the AAFC just have horrible defenses?OJ/Morris?

Jim Brown was a fullback.seriously: since when don't FBs count? are they not running with the football? any list that discounts FBs is moronic. its actually more impressive since they have less of a cutback opportunity and, generally, less speed.
Defenses hadn't yet evolved. In fact, linebackers didn't come into vogue until the mid-fifties.Yes, they did as well.... On a totally different, but interesting note.
