I think that's assuming that Gordon doesn't report. And that's a best-case/worst-case scenario for both guys that you've outlined. What if Mack misses time? So much comes into play.

I seriously wouldn't do Gordon for Drake straight up. If Hill is untouchable then maybe Mack for Gordon. I really don't know. How risk-averse are you with Gordon? Only you can answer that. I will say that I'm almost positive you'll be able to field two guys at RB in Wk One with Ty Montgomery getting serious work against Buf, which really isn't a great match-up (Buf defense was 2nd in 2018 DVOA)
If you like Hill equal to OBJ, I would offer Gordon & OBJ for Mack & Hill. I am just working to eliminate the bye conflict between OBJ & Evans, but in the end, I would take Mack straight up for Gordon at this point.

I would take Mack for Gordon as well. One note though about the 6 game thing, and maybe this applies for Zeke as well. Everyone is assuming that if they hold out for an extended time, that they will come back in week 10 so they can start marking off their 6 games. From their standpoint that would be extremely risky, right? They would be assuming that they last through each of those 6 games without injury. Coming back earlier would give more of a cushion. And in that light, maybe the earliest is the better. When was the last time a player held out and came back late in the season as is being suggested?
Guess what I'm saying is that I think Gordon and Zeke come back a little sooner than some are expecting.

You are dealing with some shady customers. In my experience, shady dudes don't make fair trades.
I think you just need to be patient. Gordon will report on Monday or Tuesday. You can weather the storm starting a COP running back who will get 3 or 4 receptions in your second running back spot. If an injury happens at quarterback, try to trade Wilson. Hold off on using your waiver wire priority until an injury happens to a running back and you can get a legit starter. Eventually you'll be able to trade OBJ for a boatload.

Only have to be on the roster and available for 6 games. You don't actually have be activated or play. They just need to report. Playing time is irrelevant.

You're really bargaining against the guy's risk tolerance. Once he doesn't report, then yeah, it plummets. It's not quite the Prisoner's Dilemma, but there is a lot of chicken going on here with trying to understand what Gordon will do. Four possible outcomes, right? You keep, he reports. You trade, he reports. You keep, he doesn't. You trade, he doesn't. What do you think the guy you're trading with would do and what risk are you willing to take?

And yes, the longer Gordon holds out, the more his value decreases. But, eventually, his value starts to rise again as we get closer to "must report" time.
In the end, it's really when you think Gordon will report. That should be the deciding factor.

I mean, he wants Evans to offset Gordon's risk cost. I think that's too much.
It's the offer you could send if you wanted - it hasn't been turned down yet, right?
And as for Mack being RB21 last year, he played only 12 games

I wouldn't consider that a total positive. He gets nicked up frequently, IIRC. I know it depends how you view injuries and being "injury-prone," but Mack's always missed time since I can remember. That's a caveat with him.

And it's a losing trade for you if you give up Evans and Gordon for Mack and Woods. I wouldn't make that trade.

Gentle disagreement in that he may indeed not report and that's the hedge in Anarchy's bet.
his 4 missed games last year were in the first 5 weeks - from week 6 on, he was RB10

I'm all over Mack this season, personally. He's the ideal RB2 with RB1 upside. Still, I like the idea of waiting until Week 1 to see if Gordon signs. But then again, you run the risk of Mack blowing up Week 1 then you'd still have to sweeten the deal.

How does one deflect in negotiation? Do they simply restate their original offer? Sounds like maybe you need to lay out a case as to why the deal works for both parties.

My other concern for anyone that skips training camp is level of conditioning / football shape and a greater chance of injury. I have nothing to hang my hat on, but it seems like those situations tend to yield more injuries. My gut tells me that happens to WR more than RB, but I think there is still a greater risk to injury.

Kinda sounds like you're going to take the Evans/Gordon for Mack/Woods offer...or at least you're trying to talk yourself into it. It's easier to do this when you've got nothing on the line, but let me give you gentle advice to not panic yet and pull this deal...
