LJ Smith OUT week 3 (1 Viewer)

L.J. Smith underwent surgery Friday to clean out scar tissue surrounding his troublesome groin. He is officially listed as "week to week."

Smith will be ruled out for Week 3. It's now time to strongly consider dropping him in 12-team leagues, as Smith is highly unlikely to be 100 percent before mid-season. Brent Celek and Matt Schobel will split time in his stead.

I just dropped LJ for Donald Lee. Having surgery now? He won't be worth anything for at least 5 weeks. That's too long to carry an underperforming TE on an underperforming offense.

Man, I don't know what the hell to do with this guy.
I hear that. And I have him paired with Dallas Clark. If we drop him, we're probably looking at guys like Mercedes, Pope, D. Lee, Bubba...some real inconsistant guys. Like the potential of the first two, but I was thinking LJ was ready to roll this year.I'm trying to dish him off on a team that took two TE's real late in my draft saying he could stash LJ. That team has TJones, so I'm dangling Leon with LJ. That's about as creative as I can get with this guy.

Look for Philly to go 4-wide now.

Avant and Baskett should get more playing time. Avant should get more looks and is the sneaky value player.

Celek is better on seam routes right now, but Schobel is better as a blocker.

Shootout in Philly - if McNabb throws well.

As for LJ - he's out this week and I'd bet he's out Week 4 as well. With Week 5 a bye, that gives him 3+ weeks to recover.
