i got this from my yahoo news&notes

Armando Salguero, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams said he was tempted to smoke marijuana during the team's bye weekend, but he said the urge did not last long. "So there was definitely an urge. But I just thought about what I have to lose and it was easy. The urge didn't last very long," Williams said.

just found it funny and thought i'd share. :kicksrock:

Yep, when I read the article today I thought "uh oh", but I admired Ricky's candor in the story and his determination not to screw up again during his NFL career.

Props.

I was also tempted to smoke marijuana this weekend. Though the urge was strong, there wasn't a single pipe at the wedding reception. My courage in such dire straits gives me hope for America.

True story.

The pipe connecting Ricky's brain to his mouth is short and straight. I like that personally...

LOL why would he even say anything??
The better question is: Why do we make such a big deal out of him smoking pot when there are players who are committing horrible acts against others? Big deal...he smoked some pot. Lots of people get drunk on their own time. Should we expel players from the league for that? We should if they drive and drink. What's the point if they do it in their own home? The amount of attention we give to this is absurd considering all the legal ways people can gain the same effect...one of which should be pot (and no, I've never touched the stuff in my life).

:sadbanana: this is exactly why i found it funny. i wasn't laughing at him, i was laughing at the fact that this was even reported.

Good call. It is rather absurd.

Agree completely with the sentiment above, but the fact remains that if you know the rules and ignore them, you're a total #######.

I think it shows great courage to admit this. I see little funny about it.
:goodposting: He could have turned into Quincy Carter and ruined his career. I hope he makes the most out of this chance.
I think he already did that. From pro-bowls to splitting carries, to not playing full seasons. To the OP. It's stupid that they have to report something like that, but that's the job, you know. They know people will find an interest in it, so they use it.

Great courage to admit that you wanted to get stoned. You have a weird defination of courage.Hey people, I wanted to do some crack this weekend but decided not to. Maybe next week I'll want to drive really fast and decide not to.

Ironic coming from someone with beer as their avatar and brew in their name.

People have to pursue their passions at some point, don't they?

i just found it funny that it was even reported.
I find it funny that lots of things are reported. Like...opening a Yahoo news note and finding that the CRACK investigative staff with the AP are reporting that "Chiefs RB Larry Johnson rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns" in the game last weekend. In other breaking news, The Associated Press is reporting that air has been found to contain the rare element Oxygen.

I mean...I know you need to cite sources and all...but statistics are freely available on the NFL website...it's not like the AP had to exert a lot of effort to put together all the numbers to report that statistic.

Just a pet peeve of mine when I open up fantasy news blurbs is all. Carry on...hehe.
