Looking ahead to the championship game (1 Viewer)

Man this matchup is worrying me. I know he ran for 144 VS baltimore early this year. This is a different Balt Def who is looking for some payback. Hillis got us here, this week was his low output for the year for me (PPR). Are you guys starting him?? Do we play matchups, and show him the pine??? Or do we go with what got us here, and hope Clev run game just matches up well with the Ravens? This one will be tough.

He has been a huge disappointment the last two weeks. I don't have high hopes about next week. But I don't really have anything better.

This matchup is really worrying me.....I hate playing a guy who I dont think has huge upside.....but we cant sit Hillis at this point

If you have watched him the last two weeks he has really slowed down. Too many carries. They ran him into the ground this season. You may want to look at better options.

Rolling with him this week despite his matchup. I do have Torain and Stewart on the bench with better matchups - at least Torain. However, I'll kick myself if Hillis goes off and Torain gets me 4 points before getting hurt.

In actuality, Hillis hasn't been his typical world beater the past few weeks. However, he hasn't been a total disappointment either. 8 points last week and 15 the week before.

Very difficult to sit a guy who is the focal point of an offense.

Look the guy is not injured so slowing down , I dont think he is, perhaps teams r saying Cleveland offense is stopping Hillis , so how easy is it to defend hillis when you can stack up 8 in the line and cheat a safety.. Till someone respects the passing game he will prob get shut down often.. Now im terrified of this matchup, and I have blount vs a weak d or westbrook vs stl.. but like they say never sit ur studs...

I didnt sit my studs and had sweet matchups with MJD against Indy and Hillis against Cincy. I got bounced for my troubles.... :lmao:

Also i sat AP last week for stewart and that worked out pretty good for mei think teams are just focusing solely on stopping him and balt is very motivated right now so its a troublesome match up for sure. The game is in cleveland though so that gives me a little hope and even in a bad week hillis is usually good for 6-8 pts

Right now I benched him for Lynch vs TB.

Gotta play the matchups at this point in the season.

I will probably go McCoy/ JCharles or one of the Dallas Rbs vs Arizona.... I sat Charles for Hillis last week and regretted it....I think he does look good still .... Just don't like that they are playing Baltimore who he embarrassed the first time around.... I think they will sell out to stop him this time.

Don't like the matchup at all, but I'm rolling him out since I don't have a choice. Stranger things have happened so he could shred the Ravens once again. :goodposting:

I think I'm gonna roll with him, he has been awesome for me this season, and I want to reward him, even if it costs me, he's earned that chance, if he gets stuffed I'm going down with P Hillis,

but...... maybe he actually can matchup with the Balt D nice,

maybe the O-line is very solid and determined to win one for the fans

maybe Cle views this game as its superbowl, they are avenging a franchise that left the city

maybe the weather will matchup perfect for hillis,

maybe Colt is enough of a factor to get the 8 in the box a little less in the box,

maybe Hillis is due after two straight down weeks,

maybe he will reward those owners who keep the faith and start him in the playoffs..

or maybe not...

I rolling with the Baltimore D in my championship game this weekend with confidence. It would be exuberance if Jake Delhomme was playing :moneybag:

FWIW, Hillis ran 4.2 YPC, but time of possession 40/20 Bengals with Benson pumping out 31 carries, although Rice could do the same this week.

Hillis had bad game the week before, of course having Delhomme at QB never helps.

If you have a better RB1 option I'd go for it, but keep in mind he has had decent games vs PIT and NYJ with McCoy at QB.

I have him in both Championship games this coming week. I will absolutely play him. While he has not been the stud he was earlier in the year, in the last two weeks in my standard PPR, he has scored 13.8 and 10.2 points, respectively. Not terrible numbers...absolutely fine for a flex position. The reality is, he has a coach playing for a job, the team is trying to improve and Hillis is likely playing to solidify his job and for a raise.

I start 3 RB's in my league, but I am unbelievable strong at RB.

Last week I started

Chris Johnson - Hillis - Charles.... and BENCHED RICE! It almost cost me the game. This week I am going with Chris Johnson - Charles- Rice and I am feeling really good about it.

Right now I benched him for Lynch vs TB.Gotta play the matchups at this point in the season.
Wow, I have the same option, along with Best. And I don't think I can sub Lynch for the white monster. He was a big factor in getting me here, and I'm not sure taht Lynch has that much more of an upside to warrant the switch. I'll keep looking at it all week, trust me. Right now don't think I'll do it. Hillis is the running game in Cleveland. He gets 95% of the carries. Whereas Lynch has possibly 3 other RBs stealing plays. Hillis gets the ball, alot. Way more than Lynch. Anyone of my starters that's getting the ball that much, every week, has to be started, IMO.

Thanks for the opinions.....always good to hear. My other options are Felix Jones, Jacobs, and M Bush. I am starting McFadden. F Jones has the best "matchup" but I can't start Jones over Hillis, because that would eat at me, if it cost me...Jones STINKS. Rolling with Hillis in ppr, hasnt gotten me less than 15 pts. before this past week, they are home with Mccoy @ QB. LETS GO PEYTON!!!!!!!

Seriously thinking about doing the exact same thing. Lynch has looked strong recently and TB has lost a lot of defensive starters. I just wonder how long Seattle can keep this game close enough to warrant a run game...This news (from Fanball) might be the tipping point:

Peyton Hillis : Ravens will use extra safeties against Hillis

12/21/2010 05:43 PM

THE NEWS

According to Aaron Wilson, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he plans to stack the box with extra safeties to get more players in position to stop Browns running back Peyton Hillis.

OUR VIEW

Hillis is coming off his second game of less than 60 yards in three weeks, and the Ravens have the NFL's fifth-best rushing defense. It's never a good idea to sit your studs, but Hillis could be in for a tough day.
ETA: for what it's worth, Hillis is currently ranked 4th, while Lynch is 20th. cheetsheets
In ppr we could get catches too. Im hoping for 5 receptions a td and some rushing yards. He is their offense.

Seems odd a coach announce to the world what his defensive gameplan was.... Anyway, I have no choice but to roll Hillis out there, along with Lynch. Stewart, Morris and Woodhead are my only alternatives. Low expectations rushing, but maybe he can make up for it in the passing game.

:lmao: Not that this doesn't happen more often, but if he goes nuts, don't expect him to send you a nice slice of his game check. I'd roll with him if I had him, but not for that reason, TBH.

Other than the Baltimore defense, what is there to like about starting Lynch in your championship game?In the last 5 games, Hillis has touched the ball 125 times. (100 rushes, 25 rec)

Lynch has touched the ball 72 times. (57 rushes, 15 rec)

So going by averages, Hillis will have the ball 25 times this week, while Lynch might feel the pigskin 13 times. It's double the amount of touches and a bigger chance of scoring points.

Not sure where all the love for Marshawn is coming from.

I have him myself, and it's crossed my mind for a second, but after looking into it, it doesn't make too much sense, to me anyway. ;)

I heard this last night. It's the coach's weekly call-in radio show. So some genius called in and said, "Last time, Hillis really ran all over us. Will you play extra men at the line to stop him this time?" And Harbaugh said, sure, we'll look at dropping a safety down into the box to stop him if that's what it takes. Earth-shattering information. Here's my take - the first Baltimore game was Hillis's coming out party. In the first half, he caught the Ravens totally off guard and rushed 12 times for 72 yards. At halftime, they adjusted and totally shut him down - with one big exception. He did bust off a huge 48-yard run, but otherwise he had 9 carries for 33 yards. I'm not saying to throw out the big run, but I am making the point that once Baltimore realized Cleveland intended to pound the ball with Hillis, they adjusted and did a good job of limiting him, except for that one run.His recent decline, coupled with the fact that Baltimore will be ready for him and did a good job of limiting him later in their first match-up, have me thinking it's going to be another tough week for Hillis owners (of which I am one).

ARE YOU STARTING HIM???

I have him in PPR and I just don't see how you could possibly bench a RB that plays all 3 downs, catches passes, and is the goal line back unless you are completely loaded at RB.

Great post. Hillis was severely limited by the ball control offense of Cincy.

There are several factors.First and foremost, not Baltimore's defense, but Tampa Bay's defense. In the last two games they have allowed Maurice Morris 15/109/1 and Ryan Torain 24/172/0. That's over 7 ypc each. If Seattle can manage to stay in the game then Lynch should be a lock for 100 yards. In one score games or victories, Lynch has averaged 20 touches (but that's only 4 games). The last 5 games Hillis has played in have been close games. I am not so sure this will be another one. If they stack the box and force Colt to throw, this could be a game where Baltimore dominates the time of possession. Baltimore's defense isn't what is used to be, but last time they played they said they didn't know Hillis' name. This time he is wearing a target on his back.Goal line chances... If his team gets the ball on the 1, I like Lynch's chances better (this week). Other teams have figured out that Hillis is the only player on Cleveland and Lynch's line has improved. Since Okung's return, Lynch has been running better. Chester Pitts returns to the starting lineup this week. He's a solid guard. Lynch will find room to run on the left side for sure.
Good post, valid points. The key part of your post is "if Seattle can stay in the game". That's a big issue and nothing we can predict. It just scares me when I see Lynch finish with 7 carries and 3 other RB's listed under him with carries as well. I know for sure that Hillis is getting the ball, and that's all I can ask for in fantasy. I don't think I could live with myself if I sat Hillis and it cost me, whereas I would say eh it was Marshawn Lynch, if Lynch has the better game and he was on my bench. Good stuff man, this is why we love fantasy! GL!

I am going back and forth to start him in a PPR. I have Hillis, Blount and Mike Williams (TB) up for 2 spots, my 2nd RB and my Flex. Right Now I am starting Blount and Hillis but I could make a case to start Williams over Hillis or Blount.

I was watching the live boxscore and Benson was dominating, but in short bursts of 5-6-7-yard runs. The type that really eat clock because it's good enough to stick with but takes forever to get down the field. Rice typically either busts one for 7+ or goes down at or near the los. Maybe the Browns get more TOP this game. Regardless, I can't sit a guy who has done what he has done this year unless I have a great option behind him. I don't consider Tashard Choice a great option.

Just to add to the decision making...

RB Peyton Hillis missed practice with an unspecified injury, but coach Eric Mangini said only it was "nothing that I'm that concerned about." That could be a positive, or it could be coachspeak. Consider that Mangini said for weeks he expected LB Scott Fujita back from a knee injury, discussed his improvement in recovering from a knee injury and repeated that he felt he'd be back before the end of the season. That was all before Fujita went on injured reserve. Mangini was also coy with ankle injuries to Jake Delhomme, Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace at different times this season.(Yahoo! Sports)

Peyton Hillis-RB-Browns Dec. 22 - 8:18 pm et

Peyton Hillis was seen limping at Browns headquarters Wednesday, on the same day he missed practice with a knee injury.

The Browns attempted to downplay Hillis' absence as a mere day of "rest," but he's clearly hurting after 311 offensive touches. His previous career high as a pro is 82, and Hillis never touched the football more than 111 times in a season at Arkansas. The Ravens' defense is out for blood after Hillis gashed them for 180 total yards and a touchdown in Week 3. "A blind cat will find a meal every once in a while," said Ray Lewis. "It won't happen again."
