Looking for a Bluetooth Speaker (1 Viewer)

I absolutely love my JBL Charge. One of the best purchases I ever made. Great sound, loud, stays charged a long time, can charge your phone, and reasonable price.

Harman Kardon One?

I have the waterproof Photive rectangle shaped one and I love it. I have the Harmon Kardon Onyx one also and hate it.

I have jbl flip, which is now the charge. It does "sounds good for the size" but ultimately, it's still wimpy and not much bass. I also have and greatly prefer Logitech UE boombox. Good for now, but I'd like to replace it with ion block rocker.

Obviously there is trade off on size, portability vs. battery and bass, but I wouldn't get one of those mini type ones if I could do it all over unless it was used solely for hotel use when traveling

My wife complains that the JBL Charge has too much bass. The Flip is still being sold, so I'm not sure they're the same thing.

That one looks good as well. Thanks!
The Onyx Studio is amazing. We have one and the sound is incredible.
I have Studio 2. It seems to disconnect at weird times (related to plugging or unplugging the power?) but its OK. It's a bit heavy and clumsey, but the sound is really good.

I'm partial to the JamBoxes...I got a refurb one from the manufacturer for like $50 a few years ago. It's simple, rugged, has long battery life and sounds great.

That said, I'm sure there are a lot of good ones out there these days.

I tried out a bunch of these last year and the JBL ones in the $150 range (then) seemed to offer the best bang for the buck. Still, due to their small size in general, none of them had great bass response. If you wanted bass, you needed to jump up into the $300+ range with the Beats or higher-end Bose.

As long as expectations are tempered, there should be plenty of decent ones to choose from.

i will come to your home in wisconsin and speak about the dangers of blue teeth if the price is right bromigo take that to the bank

Just looked it up.Looks good, is this the same as yours?
yes in black
I have this one too. Its awesome.
I have the JBL Charge 2... http://www.jbl.com/bluetooth-speakers/JBL+CHARGE+II.html basically the same thing. I think it has been a great purchase. It is a bit heavy on the bass, but if you are cool with that, it is well worth it.

No such thing as too much bass
I remember when I was 15, too! ;)

Kidding, GB. Seriously though, What is generally considered an ideal speaker has a relatively flat frequency response, and you can shape the sound using the EQ on the input device.

I love mY BOSE soundlink mini... Many of their products are overpriced gimmicks.... This is not one. Fantastic sound, build like a tank, works great. Very portable too (oversized stick of butter format). Can carry in back pocket of jeans somewhat comfortably in a pinch.

Check that. This is the one I have. Superb.

Ayone know of a Bluetooth transmitter that can plug into a tv and still let the tv's speakers work at the same time?

About a year ago I was in the market for one of these bad boys and did a bunch of online research and headed over to my local Best Buy to pick up a JBL one that had great reviews, around $100 I think....

Got there and it sounded like crap. I was like "no way I'm paying $100 for this". I have been a huge JBL fan in all my days as an audiophile but boy, was I disappointed in the sound.

Like all speakers, it will really depend on the listener's ear and preference. I guess in this situation - as a gift - you should probably just buy based on reliability, etc.

I ended up going with a Sony model in the same price range. The sound is rich and the unit is sturdy/heavy and easily syncs to devices.

Good luck in your search. :)

Returning the charge 2 and ordered the UE Boom 2. Will report back if anyone cares.
A buddy of mine has UE Booms that he paired for outdoor listening; he recently retired them in favor of a pair of latest JBL Flip3s - to him, the overall sound quality is apparently much better on the JBLs (Booms are louder though)

Just thought I's share... I bug him about it because my Monster Clarity HD bluetooth speaker is about ready to be upgraded.

I have had the Bose Sound link (not the mini) for a few years, and it's great.  It's a little weak on the bass, but it's difficult to get good base on a wireless.

If you want bass, the large boxes that look like guitar amps are the best bet.

Got a UE MegaBoom for $250 and I absolutely love it.

  • Freakishly amazing 360-degree sound with deep bass
  • Waterproof (IPX7) grab n' go shape that is shockingly light-1.93 pounds
  • 100 ft. Bluetooth wireless range, 20-hour rechargeable battery and ultra-fast micro USB charging ( Actual wireless range and battery life will vary with use, settings and environmental conditions)
  • UE MEGABOOM app for additional features and control
  • Gets better all the time through wireless, over-the-air speaker updates
