So our keeper league is increasing from 10 teams to at least 12 teams. Can anyone suggest successful ways your league has incorporated new teams without having a start-over draft? We're considering allowing existing teams to keep one or two players, for example, rather than the usual eight. What say you?

we had a league expand from 10 to 12 with 2 keepers a 3 years ago and it worked out fine. to make sure the expansion teams had absolutely no advantage, we even let teams that didn't like their 2nd keeper draft/swap a player before the expansion teams ever drafted. we wanted to make sure they "paid their dues" (in addition to the $100).3 or 4 teams swapped a keeper with a player from the pool (reggie bush became a "keeper" before his rookie year). then the expansion teams drafted 2 players each and we just picked up with the draft.

both teams are doing well now. it's a 5 player keeper now (with alot of conditions for the last 3 keepers). one team is keeping westbrook/moss/romo as it's top keepers this year and the other team is keeping lynch/AJ/colston.

no matter how you do it, the expansion teams will start out a bit behind, but they can be competitive if they draft well. they'll just have a smaller margin for error during the 1st year.
