Louisville Homers.. (1 Viewer)

I would like to hear from some knowledgeable posters, not about the speculation that this is an open race...because I think that we have all seen that after 6 years, this was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I know that Louisville ran a spread offense, and in a spread offesnse a mobile QB is key. Matt Schaub is mobile and arguably a better passer than Vick. Don't get me wrong...Vick has the bigger arm, but Schaub might be better at extending the play THEN delivering the timing route. We all know Vick can more than just "extend" the play (which seems to be the currently en vogue term), he can hit the home run ball.

I would be interested to hear an analysis of which QB some of you think will be a better fit without all of the "leadership" talk, etc.

:wall:

The problem I see is that neither is a very good fit for the offense Petrino has run in Louisville. Brohm has a big arm and is fairly mobile. He has good field vision.

Schaub has good field vision from what we've seen, but a less then stellar arm. His fit is the West Coast system that Atlanta ran.

Vick has a strong arm, but less then stellar field vision. I am still befuddled by the fact that Mora and Knapp continued to try and put this square peg in a round hole. If the owner wouldn't let them move Vick, then they should have adopted a new scheme.

Anyway, back to the question -- neither is a good fit. My hunch is Petrino will devise a system that caters to Vick (despite his recent and past problems). THe basics will be his offense, but he sold himself on how he can make Vick a better player (again my hunch). Because the owner had so much invested in him, this is the route they go. If Vick fails under Petrino, then Blank will have to ask if the problem is Vick.

Whoever has the bigger paycheck.
