Tomlinson yesterday said he too planned to play through the pain of a sprained big toe that limited him to 10 carries Sunday in Denver and that the long week before Monday's game against the New York Jets should help.

“This will be a week that I can get a lot more treatment; I've got an extra day,” Tomlinson said. “Hopefully, the treatment and the rest will put me pretty much where I want to be. Hopefully, next week I'll be able to be more productive but also play a little bit more. Have some more carries, and do pretty much what I have always been able to do.”

Tomlinson said he was feeling better yesterday than the previous Monday and expects to be close to 100 percent by the time the Chargers play at Oakland on Sept. 28.

I am liking the sound of this of course next Monday is a long ways off. Also will probably have to deal with the dreaded GTD or at least have to make a decision with limited info on Sun whether to start him or not.

I mean if he sits out of practice for 7 days gets the best treatment doctors can offer maybe he can come back.

As an LT owner, I'm very cautiously optimistic. In the grand scheme of things an extra day this week, really isn't that much time to get a turf toe better, considering how limited he was this past week.

Until he get get 20+ productive touches a game and come out with no setbacks, I may have to consider an alternative. It sucks because you don't want your 1.01 pick sitting on your bench, but I also can't afford for him to pull himself like he did this week.

GET REAL PEOPLE

This guy has sugar coated the injury from the start, this is more serious than it appears. Seems as if he is trying to "positively" heal the foot in a week. This toe is bum, and he shouldn't step on the field until he REALLY READY or 1) It will get worse 2) He will hurt his team

I agree. An extra day isn't going to do much. At least he is playing on grass. But the fact that he can't cut on it and has been sugar coating it for a while now, I would say that the guy needs to take a week or two off and come back when it's in good shape. Otherwise the guy is going to be hit or miss (mostly miss) all season and be doing a disservice to his team (and Fantasy Owners everywhere)...

as if you really know the situation but thanks for your reply. however I would think it may be worse than they're saying & to sit in a week or so would be the best option for it to heal properly..

Of course he's going to say he'll play through it. Lot of good that will do your fantasy team when he's sitting on the bench with no shoe on in the second quarter-- makes for a great Monday Night, eh? Problem is there's really no way you can bench the guy, so all you can do really if he's on your team is bend over and take it like a man.

Hopefully, next week I'll be able to be more productive but also play a little bit more.
Right. Sproles it is for my lineup this week. I can't believe I'm saying it, but LT can take a seat on my bench until he looks like himself again.

Traded LT late last week and couldn't be happier. It's been a great run for him (7 straight years in the top 7) but I think this could be the year the streak ends.

I know :goodposting: but it could happen

-- Running back LaDainian Tomlinson said he isn't sensing that his toe will ail him over the next three-to-four weeks. He was restricted to 10 carries on Sunday. "No, no, no, I'm not sensing that at all," he said. ""I'll be very surprised if I have to deal with this toe injury for another three weeks."

I have Sproles, thank God, so I just need to know which one to playIF there is question - I am leaning more and more to going with Sproles

I stopped listening to what LT said after he said the turf toe was "no big deal" after Week 1. Although it does make me wonder when he says he thinks he will be close to 100 percent by the 28th; what percentage will be he be at for the Monday night game, then?

Rolling with Sproles over LT Monday night. If he practices all week I might have second thoughts, but I'll believe he's ready when I see it. Already 0-2 anyway(Colston, AJ, LT in 1st three rds).

I'm kinda torn on this. I have LT in a dynasty league, & while I'd love to start him if he's a go (or likely to go), it might be best for his FF owners (LT/Chargers included) if he sits a couple weeks. I honestly don't believe it's a serious TT injury, but even a mild-to-moderate TT injury will linger if you keep playing on it. Hard to say what's the correct way to go about managing this thing. Guess we'll have to ride the wave, LOL.

I gotta ask. Is there anything manly about bending over and taking it? Should it read, "Bend over and take it like that chick that let you do that to her?"

Two "Pretty Much's" and two "hopefully's" in that quote. Sounds like LaDainian himself isn't liking his chances right now.
lol Yeah, I'm pretty much starting Sproles. Hopefully that'll work out.
I'm pretty much with TP here. Hopefully it works out for the both of us....I'm also pretty much going to bench Brayon Edwards. Hopefully one of the other chumps on my team will step up in his stead...

Would Rodgers & Forte be too much or not enough to trade for LT?

If the guy you are trying to trade with is rolling with Matt Cassel, Brett Favre and Joe Flacco - could be.If he's got Kurt Warner, probably not. Also, if LT is his only back worth a damn, you won't get him for Forte. BUT if he's rolling out someone like FWP with LT - that's when he might bite. A lot of LT owners are on the fence so just make sure you offer what they need most not just warm bodies who may be great (LOVE RODGERS right now) may not be useful for them currently.

He's definitely sugar coating it, after Sunday's game, he said that the toe feels the same as after the Week 1 game, so that means it's healing. If it feels the same as the day you injured it, its not healing.

On that note, I'm starting both LT and Sproles in a 14 team PPR this week. LT has gotta be a better start than Coles on my flex, and they facing a Jets D that gave Jordan 60 yds in the second half last week. So one of those two are gonna bust out, the other will get at least 6 pts.

How can you possibly think of trading Rodgers with his obvious upside while banking that McNabb won't get hurt? You have good WRs, decent RBs and very good QBs. While none of your RBs are Tomlinson, it appears that Tomlinson is not quite Tomlinson either. While I agree that targeting Tomlinson at his lowest point in the last 5 years or so is a pretty good idea (I'm considering it myself) that wouldn't be my first offer.

Campbell is still on the FA list in my league, so if McNabb ends up getting hurt I'll still be "okay" there. Not sure Rodgers is less of an injury risk given that he got's been hurt several times in his career already without playing much.

I recommend everyone actually watch the Monday press conference where all these quotes are coming from over at www.chargers.com

OK I watched the press conference on chargers.com. I am sold, LT seems loose and upbeat joking. Not the demeanor for someone at risk of being lost for the season. But now that I think about it the guy is a gazillionaire and one of the best to play the game, guess I would be upbeat regardless if I was him!

OK, question time... is this a toe issue that will persist for a few weeks and he will be back to normal? Or is this an unload LT when he has a strong week toe issue?

I'm not a doctor but I did stay at a holiday inn last night :goodposting:

Toe injuries are bad and can take a very long time to heal. You just can't push off or cut off of a sore toe. It even hurts just having a shoe on, which is why he had it off on the bench. Gates had a toe problem last year and it's still not 100%.

its seems little things are starting to nag LT, I sure hope he isnt starting to hit the down side of his career as the Chargers need him.

The article is calling this a sprained toe. According to the turf toe information thread, this would be a mild form of turf toe, and doesn't sound like the beginning of the end, though it would affect him for a few weeks. The worse grades of turf toe involve a tear. I don't recall seeing that word in any of the LT stuff I've read (though I'm not looking it up to check).

So, my question for other posters would be, do you guys just not believe it's only a sprain/mild turf toe, or do I misunderstand what turf toe is?

But, on the Gates comparison, Gates's injury was much worse. He dislocated his toe and tore tissue and subsequently had to have surgery. I would guess if the "sugarcoating" isn't too strong, he should heal within a few weeks without the sky falling in on his career.

Just watched the presser, it didn't really make me feel any more comfortable with starting him this week. Seems like he's still a little bit unsure of himself. The only thing I did take is that he seems to think the injury is not serious, so long term I think he'll be ok. I'm rolling with ADP and Turner this week as of right now though.

I think this is hard for LT to deal with psychologically. Up until last year he never had any issues with his "wheels." Sure he played through bruised ribs, etc. but now with the knee issue last year and the toe, I think (playing arm-chair psychologist) that he isn't being totally objective. How can the toe feel like it did last week, like it did at the end of week one but somehow it's getting better? This is gonna be tough to decide with him and Sproles if you have both. From the Chargers perspective, you don't want to be truly forthcoming since the Jets are going to have to prepare for two completely different backs. AT least FFG seems to be treating this a little more realistically. Without giving anything away, they seem to be tempering their expectations for LT. I've looked at other sites early week three lists and I'm amazed that he's ranked 2nd still. I mean come on, say you're extremelly lucky enough to be in a deep dynasty where you owned LT, Peterson and Westbrook or Gore. You're telling me you play LT over those last two guys?

A guy wants to trade me LT and D.Anderson for Cutler and Gore. I offered Grant for LT straight up, think i'm crazy?
