LT owners (1 Viewer)

Sound ridiculous, but he was limited in practice Friday, and may be limited in the game. I don't want this to turn into a WSIS thread, just curious if you own LT if you thought about it. I have what I think are 2 pretty good alternatives (both projected top 10 this week). I have seen it happen again and again, where a back starts and aggravates an injury and sits out the second half. I like to go with the healthy back when I have the option.

I don't think you bench LT in this game, but this post does beg the question - discussed a few weeks back - about just who is the backup RB in San Diego.

No, I don't think LT is hurt and no, I don't think the SD backup is going to be playing any time soon, but LT's injury will be a nagging one (toes always are) and it seems inevitable taht at some point this season, he'll take a game off.

I didn't see the Week 1 Charger-Panther game. For those who saw it and/or follow the Chargers closely, is Sproles the backup to have in SD? Or is he too small and it will likely be Hester (or someone else)?

I am. I dont want him coming out of the 2nd Q due to that damn toe. IMHO he shouldnt be playing- it's week 2----??? What a risk, LT will be A done BLT if he reinjures that toe.

Oh you should bench him alright. And you should make sure you tell as many people as you can that LT2 should be benched. And you should go on as many fantasy football forums and tell people that he should be benched. Do whatever you can to spread the word the LT2 needs to be benched...take out a newspaper ad if you need too. LOL

Anything to make sure somebody doesn't play him against me, cause I don't have him any any league this year...lol.

 I read where he will test it before the game (late game), so I probably won't take the chance.I'm lucky enough to have Chris Johnson to replace him though. If I didn't have a capable replacementI'd take the chance and play LT.

All LT owners who don't have Sproles on their roster are making a big mistake. LT is 28 years old and he's going to start breaking down. I see alot of similarities between LT this year and S. Alexander last year. I'd be very surprised if LT scores more than 10 touchdowns this year.

I love how people always compare LT to Alexander simply because they both had huge seasons. Since they had similar monster seasons, naturally any minor injury to LT must somehow parallel Alexander. They are not the same RB. They don't run the same. They are in different situations. All similarities between LT and Alexander are superstition.

I somewhat agree with this...but you cannot deny that LT2 has had a tremendous workload sofar in his career. While I don't subscribe to a career limiting injury for him soon, a season limiting injury is not out of the question.

Given his running style, I have to disagree.

I see it the other way...San Diego's (and LT's) window of opportunity is closing...fast.With Merriman out, it may have already.I see LT making a HUGE push to get into the end zone every time he touches the ball..

Another similarity is that they are both "old" in football years. Once a RB hits 28, it's downhill. Once they hit 30, it's over (at lease over regarding being a top RB in the league).

In a dynasty I traded away Barber and F.Jones this summer for LT and his backups. Man I'm regretting that trade right now...

at least I still have Jackson, Portis, and Turner.

If you did even a bit of research, you'd find this is wrong. Most very good RBs have productive seasons through age 30. Mega studs (like LT) are known to perform at a high level after at 30. 28 is hardly the downturn for RBs of LT's calibur. If you are a subscriber, this information is readily available using historical dominator.

This is my situation. I have LJ and Chris Johnson. Pretty capable alternatives.

Actually.......he is 29.

Yes...no doubt he will be riding the pine on my team (if I had him).

I am thinking abour benching him for Forte and Ben for Warner. But Forte is going against Car D. I lost last week in a close game . Tough call this week.

I hate tinkering with my starting lineup and overthinking and missing out on big weeks from a starter is the worst.

maybe I will flip a coin. or have a few beverages and it will sort itself out. .

The existence of this thread guarantees at least 150/40/2 for LT. I can't believe you guys are even debating this.

I've decided to play both LT2 and Sproles and bench Selvin Young. Since I'm going to the Vikings / Colts game I won't have luxuary of knowing whether LT is playing or not. It might not be a bad play to play both if your RB #2 is weak. You never know if LT2 will play one series and be done, or go off for 156/3.

Not a chance. If he says he'll be fine, then I have faith he'll be fine. His questionable listing and limited practice seem to be precautionary rather than necessity.
Didn't he say he'd be fine last year in the playoffs, and then sit on the bench with his helmet on, watching the game like it was on a Vizio from behind his Darth Vader visor too?

You got me. He's not going to play this week...100% sure.

We are seeing Shaun Alexander here, people. I'll say it once again LT will not be in the top 10...maybe 15.

Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson was taken out of the game Week 2 against the Broncos in the second quarter after re-injuring the big toe on his right foot, but returned to action midway through the third quarter. Tomlinson was hurt on the team's scoring drive in the late second quarter that ended in a Chris Chambers' 48-yard touchdown reception. He was being checked on the sideline by the trainers as RB Darren Sproles replaced Tomlinson, who had six carries for 13 yards and a 16-yard reception.(Updated 09/14/2008). BALLSTEIN IS A WISE MAN

God, this is so lame. In about 7 years of fantasy football, I've never had a top 3 pick, and so I've never had the elite-type RBs. So, obviously, this means I never had LT either. This year, I got the #1 pick in TWO LEAGUES, and went with LT in both. I considered hedging with AP or something, but that just felt like a week play out of fear of my own bad luck.

So, of course, LT gets turf toe week 1 and will probably be worthless the rest of the year.

I know, the shirt, etc etc

Well, what do LT owners do now? Are you just going to hope he turns it around when he's questionable again next week? Are you rolling with Sproles? Just going with your #3 from now?

What a terrible spot. Brady and LT are going to be fantasy poison this year, go figure.

Don't want to say I called that one, but I did. Unfortunately, I started him and left McFadden on the bench. Where are the hotshots who called benching LT absurd?

"He says he's fine". Just usual "gamer" rhetoric. This is the same LT who told us it was a 'mini turf toe'. Ding-ding-ding. Sproles was snatched up in any.every league if he wasn't drafted, or perhaps in 8 team 14 players leagues he's miraculously still out there. I think you are going to get screwed again this week.... they need to figure this out... and either shut him down for a few weeks. Otherwise, from a fantasy perspective, it's hit or miss. A healthy LT in this game today, and the Bolts probably win, too.Sproles looked awesome today, all many facets.I don't need SAlexander comparisons... I know and have seen LT2's workload, and the lack of a threepeat in "modern fantasy football".

Per Rotoworld via the San Diego Union-Tribune:

LaDainian Tomlinson is convinced his toe injury didn't get worse Sunday, and doesn't plan to have it looked at by a doctor."I'm happy ... it didn't get any worse after the game. I don't feel any worse than I did last week ... which shows it is improving and healing." That sounds nice, but the injury didn't knock him out for most of Week 1. "Last week, I had it looked at," he said. "Now, I don't want to know." If this is truly turf toe, it has a tendency to linger for a long time. LT2 owners should be concerned, but don't panic and sell now.
It made him ineffective and kept him out of a big divisional game, but he doesn't want a doctor to look at it? I'm rapidly being to think LT lost it and feel like I can't believe anything this dude says anymore.

As long as he's happy all is well.

This is probably the worst possible scenario for LT owners.

The toe is clearly hampering his play... but it looks like they'll probably have him practice a little every Friday and use him mostly as a decoy on Sundays.

I wish they would just totally shut him down for 3-4 weeks or whatever it takes for him to get his burst/lateral agility back.

This about nails it. I will say the only good thing is Sproles is a threat to take it to house at any time. The guy touched the ball 9 times and gained 125 yards. I think Sproles is the better play right now. It is real frustrating because Charger games are the late games, or Monday night this week.

Why is it that LT falls to me in the draft (number 3 behind Brady and Manning (yes we had a good laugh at the expense of my friend) and this is the first time I've ever had him and he has SUCKED! WTF!?!? My year is ruined since my QB's are mediocre at best (Favre, Delhomme, and TJ) (2 QB league) - at least I have Chris Johnson (except my other RB is MJD who is also sucking)

What do you have for a kicker and defense? I NEED TO KNOW!!

i have been a LT owner since he was a rookie. I think the hand writing is on the wall. I am trying to move him while he has some value.

i think the future is SProles or Hester.. otherwise they wouldn't have let Turner leave.. they should have put LT on the block, and seen what kinda talent he could have collected...

but kinda.. a little..

I have also had him in one league since his rookie year and traded him Saturday night. I got Ryan Grant and Jonathan Stewart for him and even though Grant laid an egg I feel good about it.
