LT2 Dynasty Value (1 Viewer)

If you have Tomlinson on your team in a dynasty format...what would it take for someone to pry him away from you? (players, draft picks, etc.)

Conversely, if you are targeting him in a dynasty what are you planning to offer in an attempt to land him?

Honestly, I expect next year to not be like this but to use an analogy I heard last night, "He is 'Gretzgying" the records." Who knows what he will do in his career? I happen to have him in what is essentially a 1 keeper league and there is no deal you could concieve of for me to trade him. If I were in a true Dynasty league, I would probably not deal him even if you offered me LJ, Steve Smith and Peyton Manning for him. I would be confident enough in putting a team around him that would match that lineup. Also, how fun is it to watch him? Add to that the fact that it's refreshing to have such a quality guy on your team to root for. I'm really glad I have him and not Larry Johnson.

This is my 5th year in a 5 player keeper league and I can't think of any combination of players that I would trade LT for. He guarantees me a playoff spot every year.

I have him in two PPR dynasty leagues. He has scored 443 points this year, which is three points shy of Marshall Faulk's 2000 season which is a league record in these seven-year old leagues. And, of course, he has two games to go.

I honestly doubt that any owner in either league could put together a package that would entice me to trade him.

It's all about roster equity. Since LT only takes up one spot but can score like 2 players even this offer isn't as lopsided as it seems. Look at the fantasy pts to date and say you had guys like Kitna who was a cheap QB and Lee Evans...Manning 280LJ 271Smith 149total 700LT 373Kitna 233Evans 131total 737I chose players Evans/Kitna that were easily available and could easily be traded for in most leagues and still they outscored Manning, LJ and Smith. Yes LT won't score like this every year but even an offer of Manning, LJ and Smith is not the homerun it appears to be when you put actual numbers by the names....

What is LT2 worth?

A high first round RB and 2nd round WR. Example, Steven Jackson and Chad Johnson

What would it actually take to get LT2 off a roster?

Priceless. Way more than what's he's actually worth. Probably a package that included, but not necessarily limited to, 2 RBs, WR, and draft picks. Example, Steven Jackson, Ronnie Brown, Chad Johnson and a first round pick

The difference lies in the assumption that LT2's stats will come back into line with his historical average either by reversion to the mean, nagging injury (like he had during the prior 2 years), or the likely Madden Curse that will come (if you believe in that sort of thing). Even LT putting up half of this year's production is pretty darn good, so I don't think the downside for current owners would be worrisome. But it seems like a dangerous assumption to make a trade based on his stats for this year and any owner of LT2 would demand such value.

He will be on the cover of Madden sooooo......I would get rid of him ASAP
As scary as that sounds--though not as scary as your avatar--I know people who actually will consider it a negative if he is on the cover. It doesn't make any sense. Other than there's probably some weak correlation with being on the Madden cover and reversion to the mean for a player's career stats (not the mean overall). The injury aspect obviously is a total fluke.

I have him in 2 dynasty leagues, HIGHLY doubt I'll be trading him.Team 1, 16 teams:QB(1): Leinart/BenRB(2): LT , Tiki , McGahee , 1.01(AD)WR(4): Roy, Walker, Evans, Edwards, MJones, Hines WardTE(1): Shockey, Troupe/ScaifeHow many teams would you guess can improve the lineup enough to make me consider trading LT? It would have to be something like LT, Ben, Ward for Palmer/Peyton, SJax/LJ, Steve Smith, 1.02. And even then that's probably not doing it. Team 2, 12 teams:QB(1): Eli, VickRB(3): LT, CT, DWill, KJones, TJones/BensonWR(3): Fitz, Evans, Keyshawn, Kennison, MJonesTE(1): Heap, Des. ClarkI'd be more likely to trade him here, but only if it netted me the same package mentioned above. You must keep in mind that this year (and yes, it's unlikely to be the same next year), even if you had LJ, you still need to start another top 30 RB just to equal LT.

This post assumes that LT will continue his incredible scoring pace. What if he comes back to earth next year and only post his usual scoring. I would take the upgrade at QB with Manning who is consistently good and should be for the next 5-7 years over a patchwork player like Kitna, a RB who is as equally good and who could even put up better numbers than LT in a given year (like LJ, SJax, Portis) and a WR who has the ability to lead the league in scoring (Holt, Smith, Johnson). Especially in a dynasty league for a player where the dropoff is usually quick and substantial.

Hey, I know it sounds crazy but if you consider the pounding Johnson has taken and Alexanders age, there is no way I trade LT. I figure (barring injury of course) he will have 4 more steller years at at least the production he had last year. I'll take that with what I think is my abiltity to put a decent team around him. What would a team of LT plus Brees plus Colston say score against any other three or hell five player combo this year? Add to the fact that to me it's important that I truly enjoy rooting for the guy and fantasy has been that much more enjoyable this year for it.
