Tomlinson hints at contract restructuring

In a Tuesday interview with FOX Sports Radio, LaDainian Tomlinson hinted that he’d consider taking a pay cut to stay with the team.

"I think it’s warranted being talked about," Tomlinson said of the possibility of restructuring. He added that he has no problem "forgiving and forgetting, and moving on" after GM A.J. Smith's inflammatory comments of the past week. Still, LT's San Diego future will come down to how much the Chargers want to cut his pay versus what he believes he can get on the open market. If this happens, then Sproles is as good as gone........maybe.
Maybe. I gave up trying to predict the Chargers moves a couple years ago, but Sproles fills a few roles with Chargers besides back up RB. If you let him go it may take 2 players to replace him which may increase his value in their eyes.

I don't think it's a matter of "If you let him go", Sproles wants to be a starter in this league, and he may or may not get his wish.

Report: Spanos indicates LT to stay a Charger

After speaking with Chargers coach Norv Turner and owner Dean Spanos, NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt said he was led to believe LaDainian Tomlinson will stay in San Diego.

"I was with Norv Turner and Dean Spanos last night and talked at length about LT returning," said Brandt. "Mr. Spanos led me to believe that LT would be on their team in 2009." GM A.J. Smith obviously has other ideas regarding Tomlinson, but it sounds like the owner could try to broker a deal to satisfy all sides. Jan. 29 - 7:28 pm et

What exactly is this based on? Anyone with a link/quote that backs this up?
