LT's backup (1 Viewer)

Who would LT's main backup be if he does not go?

Would it be Sproles or RBBC?

Wondering if there is one main guy I can pickup.

Thanks

Are you guys benching LT if you have other solid options this weekend? Did they report how he felt after the last practice this week? I've got Jackson, Turner, and Portis that I could start in his place, but hard to bench LT in this big rivalry game...

As of right now I have. Have plugged in T Jones and J Lewis, and will wait until closer to gametime to make the switch back to LT.

To LT or not to LT? That is the question.

The guy has missed one regular season game in the last seven years (how many other RBs can claim this) and says he is going to play. I would think those two facts alone would make this an easy decision for anyone.

I know I still have images of that AFC game fresh in my mind's eye... I'd guess many others do too....and that damned Chunky Soup commercial! :lmao:

Sproles is the backup, but they seem to throw it a LOT more when LT is out, Rivers with another big week this week.

The last 7 yrs don't equal this one. I prefer to take things on a case-by-case basis, but to each their own. Sure he's generally very dependable, but wear n tear and age become more and more of a factor as well.

SD drafted Hester to take Turners place. Sproles would be valuable in a PPR league, however his size would probably limit his carries (5'6" 178lbs) to C.O.P/ passing situations. INMO

Here's an excerpt from the daily spam I get from Sporting News (apparently Devin Hester is LTs handcuff):

Nearly lost in the wailing over Brady's knee was news that LaDainian Tomlinson suffered a sprained toe late in the Panthers loss. While he claims "it's not that bad," that's not what you want to hear from the anchor of your lineup. Darren Sproles would see more action if LT is sidelined, but Devin Hester is the better handcuff. The rookie from LSU is significantly bigger than the 5'6" Sproles, who is not built to handle 20-plus carries per game.

Who came in and got a carry inside the 10 yard line when LT initially suffered the toe sprain?[/rhetorical]

oops

I picked up Sproles. He would get 75% of the work, just maybe not GL- though he did in preseason.

If LT is out, I'll plug Sproles in.

All my other RBs play in early games, so I'm pretty limited, not any good options either (J Lewis, LenDale, Perry). If I had somebody good, I'd probably start them over either SD back this week.

Check out the play-by-play from last week, Sproles came in twice for LT when he need a breather and SD was in the red zone. This should give a little bit of clue in terms of the backup and goal-line carries. Not sure if Hester was hurt at the time but since he wasn't playing, highly doubt it.

3rd quarter:

4-1-CAR 36 (9:05) 21-L.Tomlinson left end to CAR 27 for 9 yards (43-C.Harris).

1-10-CAR 27 (8:37) 21-L.Tomlinson left end to CAR 19 for 8 yards (43-C.Harris).

2-2-CAR 19 (7:56) 21-L.Tomlinson right end to CAR 17 for 2 yards (58-T.Davis).

1-10-CAR 17 (7:14) 43-D.Sproles up the middle to CAR 15 for 2 yards (20-C.Gamble, 30-C.Godfrey).
4th quarter:
2-10-CAR 24 (4:43) 21-L.Tomlinson up the middle to CAR 16 for 8 yards (43-C.Harris).

3-2-CAR 16 (4:02) 21-L.Tomlinson right end to CAR 7 for 9 yards (43-C.Harris).

1-7-CAR 7 (3:17) 21-L.Tomlinson up the middle to CAR 6 for 1 yard (92-D.Lewis).

2-6-CAR 6 (2:37) 43-D.Sproles up the middle to CAR 5 for 1 yard (53-N.Diggs).

I think if it's something serious Hester would be given an opportunity. Sproles obviously knows the system better and can make due coming in and giving LT a breather when he wore the D down for him. No way I could ever see Sproles being more than that. His size would certainly limit his ability to be an every down back.
