I still don't get why they pushed him out with nobody to introduce right away? Seems that this would disrupt recruiting quite a bit, and cause needless distractions.
A lot of the donor community wanted blood. And they weren't going to have Major Applewhite or Gregg Robinson coach the bowl game. Making no decision and letting them go get curb stomped by Oregon in SA would have been an even worse result as then they would have had to "FIRE" him, which is not deserved. I actually think this is probably the best path out of it for everyone. I don't think there is any coaching candidate that they would be interested in that is somehow available now but won't be available in three weeks.
I still think the early buzz will be David Shaw. I think James Franklin would be a huge mistake. I think Bobby Petrino would get them winning right away but there is no chance on earth he gets the gig. I think Briles won't be discussed at all. And I think ultimately Al Golden will be the hire.
