Maclin to KC (1 Viewer)

Inb4 Philly fans say Chip is BB 2.0. This blunder can't possibly continue.

As a Maclin and Kelce owner :X

Had a tough decision on whether to keep him next year. Makes the decision a lot easier but unfortunately won't be able to deal him for anything now. Oh well.

This loosens up the defense for Kelce, I think. Smith will rarely actually throw that deep ball but defenses will respect Maclin and open things up for Kelce and Charles.

I could see him being pretty good in PPR. He's the only guy they have to throw to, so he could see a lot of short slants and such. If he can break a few long ones this might not be a complete death sentence.

If the DEF knows that Smith can't and won't throw the long ball, how exactly does that open things up?
He can and will, just not often. It's not like Maclin is purely a deep threat, he'll open things up and catch balls.

Yeah, I don't see how this is anything that hurts Kelce's value. Maclin certainly requires more defensive attention than Bowe.

literally had an offer on the table w maclin and a higher 1st that I was strongly considering taking.

news broke and 2min later I clicked REJECT

great timing for once

That whistling sound you're probably hearing is Jeremy Maclin's plummeting fantasy value.

KC is where WR careers go to die.

Funny, I had made an offer for Maclin. Saw this and immediately revoked.

Another awful blurb brought to you by your friends at rotoworld.

This is a worst case scenario for Maclin's fantasy football outlook. Not only is Alex Smith unwilling to pull the trigger on what he deems difficult throws, but Andy Reid's offense is "spread the wealth" in nature, and doesn't heavily target one specific player. Maclin never broke out in Philadelphia until he had Chip Kelly scheming him the football in 2014. In order to clear enough salary cap room for Maclin, the Chiefs are expected to release Dwayne Bowe. They may also have to move on from their pursuit of free agent C Rodney Hudson.
Because 2010's 70/964/10 wasn't breaking out?

Maclin owners gotta be hoping for this turning into a manny sanders situation. Any chance the Eagles see their folly and offer him $11m per?

They just resigned Manchez. There is no way they make another smart move as long as Kelly is there.

Grab Josh Huff if he's on the waiver wire.
Tfw I actually went through the trouble of drafting him then dropped him.

If the Iggles somehow don't add another receiver, is there any chance Huff overtakes what little competition there is in Cooper?

Insta-reaction looks correct. In Philly Maclin would've been around dynasty WR15; in KC he's more like WR30.

The hits just keep coming. Marshall, Maclin, McCoy, Torrey Smith all go to bad offenses.
Agree but I think it's also going to contribute to making this incoming rookie draft particularly strong. In part because these players left some openings but also because a lot of big time perceived openings, like say the Colts RB as one of many examples, has yet to be filled in FA.

KC signing Maclin is like a double whammy for strengthening the incoming rookie class value. It made it less likely the Chiefs use a first round pick on a WR most of us would have likely rated highly and it created an opening in a Philly.

I should have played the lottery. I posted this would happen right after Reid took the KC job.

Just made too many "connect the dots" sense to not happen.

I like it for the real world team but I guess the fantasy shine is gone. Probably doesn't help Kelce much either.
